Sony has a widely-acclaimed track record ofPlayStationexclusives that have been released since the system’s inauguration in 1994. The PlayStation 4 alone has had titles likeGod of War(2018),Bloodborne,Last of UsPart 2,Ghost of Tsushima,Horizon Zero Dawn, and Insomniac’sSpider-Man. Each of these titles is much-beloved (if somewhat controversial in the case ofLast of Us Part 2) and has memorable characters that players think about long after finishing the game.RELATED:Things We Loved About Moss: Book 2 (& We Don’t)However, heroes don’t always do the right thing. In storytelling terms, a hero is another word for the protagonist, and that means they aren’t beholden to moral standards. There are plenty of PlayStation heroeswho abandon those moral standards at various points in their journey, and the results can be catastrophic for anyone nearby.

Despite all the destruction caused by Ellie inLast of Us Part 2, Joel Miller still did far more damage to the world at large in the firstLast of Us.He wipes out the Fireflies who, for all their flaws, were an ultimately benevolent organization.

There is no saving Yharnam by the time of the events ofBloodborne. The player character is another in a long line of beast hunters that have tried and failed to stop Yharnam from falling to the beast plague and the machinations of the Great Old Ones and the cults that worship them.

The only options that the Hunter has are to either propagate the status quo or change everything on a cosmic scale. If you choose the latter, you kill another Great Old One called the Moon Presence and become a Great Old One yourself. The implications of this are vast, even ifBloodbornedoesn’t givethe player any finer details on what this means for Yharnam and the other surviving Great Old Ones. It could change everything for the world ofBloodborne, or the Hunter could make the same mistakes as Kos, Ebrietas, and the Moon Presence before them.

1It’s Hard To Overstate How Much Chaos Kratos Has Created

Nothing can compare to the boundless chaos that is Kratos, the Ghost of Sparta and the God of War. He kills a lot of people–a lot of people.Kratos ranks above other PlayStation iconson this list because of how his violence affects the world on a metaphysical level (though the Hunter ofBloodbornedoes the same). He doesn’t just kill humans, he kills gods, titans, and creatures of myth. Kratos leaves the physical and metaphysical plane of his world changed forever.

WhileGod of War (2018)has Kratos trying to change his ways, circumstances force him into conflict with Freya and Baldur and garner the attention of Thor. Kratos has annihilated the Olympian pantheon and is on his way to doing the same with the pantheon of Asgard.
