One soon-to-be-married couple decided to invitePlayStationto their wedding due to the “huge impact” that the gaming giant had on their relationship. The company promptly treated them to a response which later made the rounds on social media, adding to the existing list ofonline anecdotes involving PlayStation and weddings.
Withover half a billion consoles soldto date, Sony has touched the life of many a gamer since the original PlayStation hit the market in 1994. That demographic also includes TikTok user thatbridejenna, who first met her fiancé Daniel in college, but their relationship only “rekindled into something more” once they decided to play an unspecified video game together, as she recently recalled on social media.

In light of that background, the couple decided to invite PlayStation to their wedding, which is scheduled for June 2024. They later received a response in the form a greeting card whose front congratulates them on their “win,” with its inside message also thanking them for sharing their “accomplishment” right below an image of thethe PlayStation platinum trophy. The card that thatbridejenna shared on TikTok does not contain a direct response to the invitation, suggesting that no PlayStation officials will be attending the wedding.
Thatbridejenna was nonetheless pleased to hear back from PlayStation, having said as much on social media. Many of her followers were impressed with the response, praising the greeting card as cute and classy, while also congratulating the couple for earning a real-life platinum trophy. Reacting to one such comment, thatbridejenna said that whoever is tasked with responding to fan mail atPlayStationmust have a “dream job.”
The Arizona-based couple also contacted some other companies that had a meaningful impact on their relationship as part of their wedding preparations, with one of them being Lucasfilm. The Disney subsidiary authored a much more elaborate reply than PlayStation in the form of a personalized letter wherein it apologized for not being able to attend the ceremony, all the while wishing them all the best in their married life. The response mail even included a copy ofWookiee Cookies: A Star Wars Cookbook.
It is unclear how often PlayStation receives wedding invitations, but this particular anecdote isn’t the first occasion on which the company sent one of its platinum trophy greeting cards to its soon-to-be-wed players; the gaming giant used another such card tocongratulate some PlayStation fans on their real-life engagementback in October 2022.
