Like the original games,Pokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlare set in the Sinnoh region. The games are looking to replicate the gameplay experience of the original, retaining its sense of scale and the starter Pokemon. That means players will once again get to choose between Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. And it also means that, contrary to some recent rumors, thePokemon DiamondandPearlremakesdo not play like theLet’s Gospin-off series. On the contrary, they will play like traditional, corePokemongames.

While that controversy may have been avoided, there’s been a mixed reaction to thePokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlart style so far. The game features chibi-looking characters in the overworld, which seems to have been done to retain the general look of theNintendo DS versions. However, the announcement ofPokemon Legends: Arceusmay go a long way in keeping fans from getting too riled up about theDiamondandPearlremakes.

Announced alongside thePokemon DiamondandPearlremakes wasPokemon Legends: Arceus, which looks like a large scale, open worldPokemonRPG that fans have been asking to play for years. The game will launch in early 2022 and makes a perfect companion piece toDiamondandPearlbecause it’s a prequel to those games, set many years in the past and detailing how the Sinnoh region’s firstPokedexwas created.

More information onPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearl, along withPokemon Legends: Arceus, should come to light in the months ahead. In the meantime, there are plenty ofPokemon Day celebrationsin existingPokemongames to keep fans busy.
