Summary
APokemonfan drew their version of what a Flying-type evolution for the popular critter Eevee could look like and posted their handiwork on social media for their peers to see. ThePokemonfan artist received positive feedback following their post, with some comments complimenting both the name of its new form and its design inspiration.
Known as the Evolution Pokemon, Eevee has remained one of the most popular Pokemon since its introduction inPokemon Red and Blue. This popularity led to it becomingthe mascot ofPokemon Let’s Go Eevee, one of the firstPokemontitles on the Switch. With the ability to evolve into eight different “Eeveelutions” at the time of writing, Eevee and its evolved forms have represented half of the Pokemon types out there. However, some types, such as Flying, Ghost, and Dragon have yet to receive an Eeveelution. While this could change in futurePokemongenerations, designing new Eeveelution concepts has been a pastime for dedicated fans to speculate and bring to life.

OnePokemonfan artist chose to try their hand at designing a Flying-type Eeveelution. Twitter user MadZygardeCore showed off their art concept of a Flying-type form for Eevee called “Aireon” and explained their design choices. This Eeveelution was not given another type to pair with the Flying-type, which would make it stand out againstother Flying-type Pokemon competitivelyif it were to officially exist. Though it remained a quadruped, Aireon was given a pastel color palette. In addition, the Flying-type Eeveelution was given wings in place of its ears, and it was given eyes similar to Sylveon. With a curled hairstyle and tail, and some curls on its hind legs, Aireon was posed in a graceful position.
MadZygardeCore explained that Aireon’s design was inspired byMelia Antiqua fromXenoblade Chronicles, who is one of the playable characters in the main cast. Melia is a High Entia spell caster that can summon elemental spirits to aid in battle and has been referred to as a “bird lady” by the Nopon race due to the wings that adorn her hair, hence why Aireon has them. In response to the post, MadZygardeCore was praised by bothPokemonandXenoblade Chroniclesfans for their work. One comment suggested the alternate name of “Melieon” for the Flying-type Eeveelution due to its design.
WithEevee remaining a popular subject forPokemonfan artiststo draw in different styles, the diversity of the Evolution Pokemon has practically no limits. It remains to be seen what artisticPokemontrainers will come up with next.
