Ghostly Litwick and its evolutions, Lampent and Chandelure, appeared to have left its mark in the fandom, with Chandelure earning a seat as a playable character inPokken. These species have been a part of thePokemonuniverse sinceBlack/White, and with the Teal Mask DLC forPokemon Scarlet/Violetreleased, they can be transferred to the Gen 9 mainline games.

Scarlet/Violettrainers can catch Litwick in Kitakami, but those that don’t have the Teal Mask will have to obtain it via trading or transferring. Ghost/Fire is a unique type combination that offers a variety of coverage, but is this typing wasted on the Litwick-line? Either way, catching these candle Pokemon is necessary for completing the Kitakami Dex.

Where to Find Litwick & Lampent (& How to Evolve Them)

Litwick can be caught on theInfernal PassandCrystal PoolonOni Mountain. They can also befound in theTimeless Woodsalong with their evolution, Lampent. Depending on whereScarlet/Violetplayers are at in their playthrough, Litwick and Lampent’s levels will be different:

There’s also a Tera Lampent over the river onInfernal Pass. Its level is 45 (pre-“The Way Home”) orlevel 86(post-“The Way Home”). The Lampent’s Tera-typing is Grass-type, and itsFlash FireAbility will negate any Fire-type moves. So, it’s better to weaken it using Flying or Ice-type moves while it’s Terastallized.

Since these areGhost-typePokemon, it’s easier tospot them atnight. However, the Tera Lampent can be found at any time of the day.

Litwick and Lampent appear in 2-star and 4-star Tera Raids respectively, but only in Kitakami.

How to Evolve Litwick & Lampent

If trainers catch Litwick, then they’ll need to level it to41in order for it to evolve into Lampent. Litwicks caught in the postgame or in the Timeless Woods only need to level up once more to evolve. To get Lampent to evolve into Chandelure, trainers need to expose it to aDusk Stone. These evolutionary stones can be found around Paldea, but there’s onebehind the Montenevera Gymandthere’s one as a Dex Rewardforcatching 130 Pokemon in the Paldea Pokedex.

How to Get Chandelure without Evolving

Chandelure appears in 5/6-star Tera Raids. Unfortunately, the 5-star Raids are only available after completing “The Way Home,” and the 6-star Raids can be unlocked after the Academy Ace Tournament/the postgame. To get the 6-star Raids, trainers will need to complete enough Raids for Jacq to contact them about the black Tera Dens in Paldea. This will unlock the 6-star Raids.

Although it may seem easy to just defeat and catch Chandelure in a Tera Raid, it normally has the move Will-O-Wisp, which will inflict burn on its opponents and cut their Attack stat in half. Those using Iron Hands or Azumarill, who are physical attackers, are going to have to use a different strategy if Chandelure burns them. Since getting a Raid Chandelurecan be difficult, players may be better off catching and evolving Lampent.

Is Chandelure Worth Using?

Chandelure is a great Pokemon with excellent Special Attack and moderate Defense/Special Defense. Its Speed, while not as outstanding as its Special Attack, isn’t as slow asother Fire-types like Slugma/Magcargo. Thus, it may move be able to move before most of its opponents in battle. Thanks to its high Special Attack,Chandelure works better as a special fighterthan it does a physical fighter. This means if trainers are serious about using Chandelure, they should attempt to get a Nature that increases its Special Attack or Speed at the cost of its Attack.
