The amount of damage a Pokemon can take before fainting is referred to as HP. When in battle, HP is displayed by the horizontal bar which goes from green to yellow to red. Some Pokemon have more HP, others have less, but what stays the same for all is that once the Pokemon’s HP reaches zero it is game over. Therefore, the more the merrier, right?
Updated Jun 20, 2025, by Suzail Ahmad:At some point, every player has to go through the hassle of choosing the right Pokemon for their team. While some people just focus on playing with their favorite Pokemon, others are more competitive and want to ensure that their team can face any opponent. Usually, the onus is on stats such as attack and speed, but theHP of a Pokemon is also quite important.

This stat could potentially change the course of a battle. If the opponent fails to knock out a player’s Pokemon, it gives them an opportunity to launch a counterattack and win the fight. So, in certain situations, Pokemon with thehighest HPare ideal and thus worth seeking out. With the release of multiple new games, there are manyPokemon with high HP, that trainers can place in their teams and this list covers all of them.
24Vaporeon – 130 HP
Each of the original Eeveelutions excels in one particular area.Jolteon is incredibly fast, Flareon can dish out huge physical damage and Vaporeon comfortably leads the way when it comes to HP. Despite many more Eeeveelutions having followed since gen 1 though, Vaporeon’s 130 base HP still hasn’t been beaten.
Though the rest of the Pokemon’s stats are fairly lackluster, it does have a somewhat decent Special Attack stat and isn’t too bad in the Special Defense department either. The latter, when combined with its high HP and limited weaknesses, makes it an incredibly durable Pokemon and a solid pick for those looking for a reliable non-legendarywater-type Pokemonfor their team.

23Melmetal – 135 HP
Melmetal is a physical powerhouse with an impressive 135 base HP. Believe it or not though, this isn’t even its highest stat, with both its Physical Attack and Physical Defense stats coming in at a mighty 143. Together with its steel-typing, this makes the Pokemon a very tough nut to crack.
Though there are undoubtedly better Pokemon out there, few are able to match Melmetal when it comes to sheer physical prowess. Its Iron Fist ability certainly helps in this regard too, granting a 120% power increase to all punch attacks bar Sucker Punch.

22Munchlax – 135 HP
The unevolved form of Snorlax may look cute and cuddly on the outside, but, for a baby Pokemon, it’s about as tough as they come. Its 135 HP and 85 Special Defense allow it to withstand quite a bit of punishment, while its 85 Physical Attack stat pairs well with moves like Body Slam and Earthquake.
Despite its somewhat impressive stats, the chances of coming up against a Munchlax in competitive play are fairly slim. The same cannot be said of its evolved form Snorlax, however, which receives a huge boost to all three aforementioned stats when it evolves.

21Solgaleo – 137 HP
Likeany other legendary Pokemon, Solgaleo is very well-balanced with high base stats. Its highest come in the form of its Attack and HP.

With both 137 base HP and Attack, Solgaleo can dish out as much as it takes. High Defense and solid Special Defense make it so that this Alolan legendary won’t go down easy.
20Lunala – 137 HP
Like Solgaleo, Lunala stands as one of the Pokemon with the highest HP in the franchise. While Solgaleo had matching base Attack, Lunala comes with higher Special Attack instead.
Both Cosmog evolutions seem to be pretty similar on paper. There are some slight differences in how certain stats are distributed, but the biggest disparity comes with their typing. Being Psychic/Ghost, Lunala has a devastating weakness to Ghost and Dark-type moves. Trainers should keep that in mind when using it in battle.

19Wigglytuff – 140 HP
There aren’t too many Pokemon who can out-stat a Legendary Pokemon, even if it’s only in one particular area. Sadly though, Wigglytuff’s 140 base HP is about all that the Pokemon has going for it, with none of its other stats surpassing 85. That said, it can be useful in certain scenarios.
When up against Pokemon with stat-decreasing moves, Wigglytuff’s Competitive ability will increase the Pokemon’s Special Attack by 2 for each stat that is lowered. Together with moves like Dazzling Gleam, this can give Wigglytuff an edge in certain situations, but it’s still not a popular choice for competitive players.

18Hariyama – 144 HP
Despite its 144 HP, Hariyama is a bitof a glass cannon dueto its mediocre defensive stats. Granted, it is a lot more durable than the likes of Pheromosa and Aegislash, but it’s unlikely to survive too many hits from a half-decent sweeper. Thankfully, it has the power to make up for this.
The gen 3 fighting type has a Physical Attack stat of 120 and a learn set that includes powerful moves like Close Combat. Thanks to the Pokemon’s Sheer Force hidden ability, the latter’s attack power is increased by 30%, while its Guts ability can increase this by an additional 50% if Hariyama is afflicted with a status ailment.

17Drifblim – 150 HP
According toPokemon Ultra Moon, “The raw material for the gas inside its body is souls. When its body starts to deflate, it’s thought to carry away people and Pokemon.”

Thanks to all that raw material — you know, the souls of dead humans — Drifblim has a base HP stat of 150. In fact, it has the highest base HP stat of all the Flying-type Pokemon and ties Giratina when it comes to Ghost-type Pokemon. Drifblim is based on a hot air balloon and gets its name from a combination of “drift” and “blimp.”
16Giratina – 150 HP
When it comes to discussing the highest HP Pokemon, it’s natural to see a few legendaries make their way into the conversation. Giratina’s massive frame leaves players with the impression that it’s hard to takedown, and its stats support that theory.
In both its Altered and Origin Forme, Giratina has 150 base HP. This is its highest stat by far. With especially high Attack and Defense stats to go alongside solid Speed, Giratina is tough to bring down and incredibly useful to have on your side.

15Dondozo – 150 HP
Dondozo is a ginormous Pokemon that has a height of 12m. Judging from its size, it is not hard to deduce that this Pokemon is all about physical attacks. According to Dondozo’s PokeDex entry in Pokemon Violet, “It treats Tatsugiri like its boss and follows it loyally. Though powerful, Dondozo is apparently not very smart.”
The three highest stats of Dondozo are: HP (150), Defense (115), and Attack (100). It only has a speed of 35, which makes it extremely important for the Pokemon to have high HP and Defense stats. Dondozo’s high Attack combined with its Unaware ability can cause some hefty damage.
