Summary

Cartoon Networkis the king of making children’s shows that are just asentertaining for adults. They do this by adding some spicy humor that only adults understand without making it uncomfortable for the kids, mostly because they don’t even notice.

But fans of thePowerpuff Girlswill know that sometimes it doesn’t seem like a show for children, and some risky lines surprise even the best of us. This is mainly because creators didn’t intend this show to be only for children, so they don’t shy away from dicey lines. This is just one more reason to fall in love with the show as an adult, and as a child as well.

Mojo Jojo

Updated by Jeremy Brown on Jun 07, 2025:The Powerpuff Girlswas one of the most popular original animated series on Cartoon Network in the 1990s. The show was born from the World Premiere Cartoons contest that sought 13 original cartoons in a time when Cartoon Network was mostly just showing reruns of older series. Among those cartoons,The Powerpuff Girlswas one of three that became a full series. It delivered some amazingly funny lines by both the girls and their enemies. Some of the lines may push the boundaries of a show intended for children, but they tend to stand the test of time.

15“I must remember to destroy those kids after my breakfast has been eaten.”

While Mojo Jojo is themost intriguing villaininPowerpuff Girls, he could also deliver some excellent funny lines. The evil monkey says this after finding the girls in his moat after their ball accidentally goes to his lair.

Mojo Jojo sees this as an opportunity to take out the heroes who constantly thwart his evil plans. With the girls out of the way, he can finally rob banks and rule Townsville.

Ice Sore

14"Oh, it’s ‘cause I have ice power, and they don’t, and they’re all jealous."

Sisters love each other, but they will often fight with each other. This is especially true when three sisters are all superheroes.Blossom saysthis in the episode “Ice Sore: when Pablo asks whyBubblesand Buttercup are so mean.

Blossom develops ice powers during an intense heat wave. While it makes her sisters jealous, it makes her more popular with their classmates.

Members Only

13“If you can’t take the heat, then stay out of the kitchen!”

This quote is a perfect example of girls standing in the face of misogyny. The girls want to join the Association of World Super Men, and excel at every test. However, they are denied entry just due to the fact they are girls.

After patronizing the girls, the Association needs to be saved from the alien robot known as Mascumax. After saving the day, the Association is reformed under the new name: Society of Associated Puffketeers.

Power-Noia

12“Give me a break, you two. Yap, yap, yap. Can I toss this guy already?”

Some people are sentimental and some aren’t, and no one would ever confuse Buttercup as being sentimental. In the episode “Power-Noia,” the girls have beaten a villain who was trying to frighten them. Blossom and Bubbles offer a sweet reason why the sisters can’t be beaten.

Tired of all the feeling,Buttercup snapsat her sisters with this funny line about how she’s ready to just beat the enemy. Her sisters stare angrily at her until they just smile because that’s their sister.

MultiVersus Cartoon Network Mojo Jojo

11"You don’t want to kick my butt; my butt is as rotten as yours.”

If you can’t beat them, create your own team to do it. That’s the lesson Mojo Jojo learns in the season one episode,The Rowdyruff Boys. Mojo is tired of his constant losses to the Powerpuff Girls, so he creates his own team, the Rowdyruff Boys.

The boys prove to be superior fighters. Mojo Jojo uses this phrase to convince them not to attack him. He also tells them they want to sit on thrones.

Powerpuff Girls Commercial Scene

10"Someday we’ll be as developed as you!"

Although it’s not in the original series, thisCartoon Networkcommercial “Super Friends and the Powerpuff Girls” perfectly displayed every little girls’ dream. Who didn’t want to beWonder Womanwhen they grow up?

It’s okay to dream, and Bubbles perfectly displayed this childhood dream with that cute honest smile and hope in her eyes. After this iconic line, the Legion of Doom bursts out laughing, as it’s clearly a well-hidden innuendo that only the adults in the room catch.

Powerpuff Girls Squirrels Eat Nuts Quotes

9"Squirrels eat nuts, stupid!"

Bubbles' naive humor always catches adults off guard. In the episode “Stray Bullet,” when the girlsfind a squirreland insist on naming it, this iconic line is thrown in the mix. Adults can’t help but laugh out loud every time.

When Blossom and Bubbles want to name the squirrel either Lady Josephine or Miss Fluffy, Buttercup, as the tomboy she is, suggests that it should be named Bruce because they can’t know for sure whether it’s a girl or a boy. After a long fight about the subject, Bubbles finally blurts out “Squirrels eat nuts, stupid!” making the scene one of the most memorable in the show.

Powerpuff Girls Toaster Quote

8"Why shouldn’t you put a toaster in a bathtub?"

This scene definitely deserved some smiles from adults, and maybe even taught a lesson to the children in the room… hopefully. In the episode “Too Pooped to Puff,” the girls try to motivate a crowd to defeat the monster themselves, without the help of the superhero trio.

When the crowd becomes confused as to how to do that, Bubbles notices that the monster is stuck in electrical wires. She hints, that using a little logic, it would be easy to destroy it. When the crowd doesn’t understand what she means, Blossom hints further, by asking “Why shouldn’t you put a toaster in the bathtub?” to which a proud man shouts “Because your toast would get soggy!” ClassicCartoon Networkhumor.

Powerpuff Girls Professor Puppy Scene

7"I remember when I brought a puppy home to my parents."

Everyone remembers their first stray animal “can I keep him?” that ended in disappointment. If anyone remembers this like it was yesterday, it would be Professor Utonium. This was made clear in the episode “Cat Man Do.” No one expected that outburst of emotions when the Professor started reminiscing about what fun it was to be young and have a pet.

He recalls when he brought a puppy home to his parents, and continued by asking the girls “and do you know what they said?” quoting from thePowerpuff Girlstranscript: “They said… (whirling around, red-faced, angry) …NO!!” And although every adult can feel this pain as if it were their own, they still can’t help but laugh at this outburst of childlike rage.

Powerpuff Girls Professor Kitty Scene

6"None Of You Can Ever Hold Kitty!"

It’s certain that the Professor has some unresolved childhood traumas, and maybe he should consult with a therapist. This becomes clear in the same episode as his outburst about not having a pet when he was young.

After hesitating for a second, the Professor agrees to keep Kitty, to which the girls rejoice. But this celebration is cut short when Bubbles reaches out to hold the cat, and the Professor snaps, saying “No! None of you can ever hold Kitty!” Maybe it’s the element of surprise or the comical image of an accomplished Professor protectively clutching a small white cat, but this scene deserves some laughs.
