One thing that many players tend to come back to in terms ofRed Dead Redemption 2is the open world encounters. A cacophony of memorable NPCs exist within the world ofRed Dead Redemption 2,many of which tend to leave a more lasting impact that others. Though one such distinctive character interaction now somewhat applies to a real life scenario.
Of the many reoccuring NPCs that players will encounter during active gameplay, there’s oneRed Dead Redemption 2NPC named Nigel who is looking for his missing friend Gavin. Nigel makes several appearances throughoutRed Dead Redemption 2’sopen world, ranting about how he can’t find his friend Gavin, who isn’t actually discoverable in-game. This has led to Gavin being a long-running inside joke of theRed Dead Redemptioncommunity. Now, it appears that there is a person trying to find someone named Gavin in the real world.

SeveralRedditusers, such as jrsamson and can_we_all_git_along, have noticed a story about a man from Australia trying to find someone named Gavin, who presumably lives in New Zealand. This story draws many comparisons to Nigel looking for his friend Gavin, considering that the Reddit user who posted the original post only knows that the man’s name is Gavin and that he’s from New Zealand. The description that Nigel gives Gavin is equally as vague.
This isn’t the first time thatRed Dead Redemption 2has applied to real world scenarios. In fact, theBraithwaite Manorwas inspired by a real world manor that is nearly identical to how the manor looks in-game. The real world manor even has the narrow path surrounded by oak trees leading up to the actual manor house. Although, this missing Gavin situation obviously occured long afterRed Dead Redemption 2released.
It’s amazing to see just how many inside jokes theRed Dead Redemptioncommunity has cultivated as a result of the release ofRed Dead Redemption 2. FromUncle and his lack of work ethic, to Dutch ranting about having plans and getting money, there’s a lot for players to discover and appreciate within the world of the game.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds forRed Dead Redemptiongoing forward. Right now, the bulk of newRed Dead Redemption2content has come in the form ofRed Dead Online, and considering how long it took to developRed Dead Redemption 2, there likely won’t be a sequel anytime soon. Although, considering Rockstar Games' upcomingGrand Theft Autotrilogy remaster, it seems like that will be taking precedent for the time being.
Red Dead Redemption 2is currently available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
