While Rockstar’s 2018 release is agame with something of a bleak ending, it’s the attention to detail, the gorgeous vistas, and the engaging story and characters that have made it such a huge hit. It’s considered by many people to be one of the most realistic video games around, and players are still enthralled by the story to this day.
In fact,Red Dead Redemption 2achieved its highest concurrent player counton PC not long ago, with a figure of 66,492 at the time of the report. It’s not quite sure why more fans than ever were playing four years after release, but it could have been down to the fact that it went on sale, leading to more people buying it. In any case, the game is evidently still reigning supreme for many players, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect. In fact, one modder has attempted to address one issue.

As spotted by PCGamesN, Nexus Mods user MaybelleElizabethColter has decided to add some new “tough” female NPCs toRed Dead Redemption 2. Their rationale behind their “Cowgirls Revisioned” mod is that they feel Rockstar’s title, while it contains many female characters, tends to give them the role of either housewife or prostitute. This custom mod adds in cowgirls and women riders, not to mention female campers who are capable of coping in the wilderness, and some female wagon drivers as well. The default setting means there is a50-60% random chance for these particular characters to spawn, and hopefully they will add a little diversity to the game’s world.
Red Dead Redemption 2has a host of interesting characters, which is just one more reason why it’s such a celebrated release. Of course, people like MaybelleElizabethColter feel there could be more variety, and in this modern era of gaming, many players are interested in something that has more equal representation.
Generally regarded asone of the most impressive looking video games of all time,RDR2is a tour de force for Rockstar. However, mods like “Cowgirls Revisioned” show that, no matter how brilliant a game is or how critically acclaimed it may be, there will always be people who want to make some improvements to the original format, be that visually, thematically, or through gender politics.
