The upcomingResident Evil 3remake is expected to be very similar to the originalResident Evil 3, albeit with significant visual improvements, better controls, and some gameplay changes to appeal to modern audiences. However, it’s possible that theResident Evil 3remake will also be making some changes to the game and story, even if they’re not all that major. For example, there are some fans who are theorizing that theResident Evil 3remake will feature a character who wasn’t in the original version of the game.

There’s a theory being shared online thatResident Evil 2gun shop owner Kendo will be in theResident Evil 3remake. This theory stems from the recentResident Evil 2remake update, which added aletter from Jill Valentineto Kendo’s shop. This letter indicates that Jill and Kendo have already crossed paths by the time that theResident Evil 3remake takes place, and we may very well see that interaction in the new game.

Those unfamiliar withResident Evil 3may be confused by how this could happen. It’s because parts ofResident Evil 3take place before, during, and after the story ofResident Evil 2. Therefore, a meeting betweenJill Valentineand Kendo would be possible.

Adding fuel to the fire is the newResident Evil 2achievement that players can unlock by finding Jill’s letter. Like all other achievements players can unlock on Xbox, this achievement includes an image, this one depicting a bloody Kendo with Jill standing behind him. It’s possible that this image was made specifically for the achievement, but it’s also possible that it is a screenshot of theResident Evil 3remake story. This isn’t entirely implausible considering theResident Evil 3remake release dateis just four months away at the time of this writing.

While it’s certainly possible that theResident Evil 3remake will feature some changes to the game’s story, including the addition of new characters, that can’t be determined with 100% certainty at the time of this writing. However, we do know that theResident Evil 3remake will feature some major new content elsewhere, specifically with its asymmetric multiplayer mode calledResident Evil: Resistance.

WithResident Evil: Resistancebeing packed-inwith theResident Evil 3remake, it really is just icing on the cake and should give the game much more replay value than it would have otherwise. Fans just have to wait a few more months to see how it all comes together.

Resident Evil 3launches on July 08, 2025 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
