TheResident Evil 4remake looks to be incredibly faithful. There are several substantial changes made, but it seems to largely follow the original game’s narrative. This gives fans a baseline from which they can begin to anticipate certain events, such as which story beats and gameplay sequences will be reprised. Only a few enemy types have been revealed thus far, and one can only imagine how terrifying other enemy types could be if they arereprised in theResident Evil 4remake.
TheResident Evil 4remake and its original are night-and-day in terms of graphical fidelity. It may be difficult for fans to dissociate their nostalgia when playing the remake however, especially when the originalResident Evil 4had such a lasting impact on third-person arcade-shooters. Many things may change in the remake’s modern approach, but it will be most interesting to see whichResident Evil 4enemy typesreturn, and how much more horrifying their depictions could be in the remake.

Regeneradors
Regeneradors are arguably one of the scariest creatures inResident Evil 4, even if purely based on how they look. Regeneradors are not terribly difficult to defeat, though they do present a unique challenge with precise aiming in particular vulnerable areas. Otherwise, as its name suggests, it will regenerate limbs and tissue endlessly. Regeneradors are pale, humanoid figures with red eyes and wide grins, and if they return for the remake their sinister facial features may be even more dreadful than before.
Garradors
Garradors are particularly lethal nuisances, often backing Leon into a corner. Quite a bit of conscious stealth is required to defeat Garradors, since they react to sound and attack accordingly, lunging at the nearest thing that makes a noise. Players must fire at an exposed Plagas on their backs to win. In the remake, Garradors could be daunting if they are even more aggressive. That said, it will be interesting to see ifLeon’s new knife parry inResident Evil 4allows him to defend against more than just chainsaws.
Colmillos
The bane of most action games, canine enemies are often fast and feral. Colmillos inResident Evil 4are no different, bearing terrifying grins with beady eyes and Plagas tentacles sprouting from their backs. If Colmillos return, players will need to be spatially aware and take them out from afar if they can. Their eyes and grins could be horrifying if they appear in deep shadow, and since the remake is already makingenvironmental changes to certain areas inResident Evil 4, players may not know when to anticipate a pack of Colmillos.
Verdugos
Likely one of the scariest creatures inResident Evil 4is theVerdugo, terrifying assassins that stalk the playerand pursue them at astounding speeds, behaving as bodyguards for Ramon Salazar. Their slender, scorpion-like silhouettes are unique, and the remake would certainly make them even more horrifying.
Resident Evil 4has an abundance of enemies, and it will be interesting to see how many of them are iterated upon for the remake. It may not make sense for some to be present if the tone does not match, or if whole sections of the original game are omitted. But based upon how much is changed or kept familiar, fans may expect to see a lot of enemies intheResident Evil 4remake to be scarier than they remember.

Resident Evil 4releases on August 01, 2025, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
