A lot of information regarding Capcom’s upcomingResident Evil Villagewas unveiled today during its special 25th-anniversary showcase. Alongsidean intense and action-packedRE: Villagestory trailer, the company also revealed the frame rate and resolution targets for the individual platforms it’ll be released on.
Resident Evil Villagecontinues the narrative established inResident Evil 7, following Ethan Winters as he attempts to track down Chris Redfield, facing off against all kinds of enemies in the process. The title will also feature the return of fan-favorite mode The Mercenaries, and Capcom even announced dates for when the demo would be available.PlayStation owners get some early-access opportunitiesas well, leaving them especially lucky.

As part of the showcase, Capcom revealed the output resolution and expected frame rate targets for the respective systems thatResident Evil Villagewill be releasing on. For the PS5 and Xbox Series X, the game should be able to output at 4K HDR and 60 FPS with ray tracing turned off. When ray tracing is on, it stays at 4k HDR but has slightly fewer frames, maxing out at 45 FPS instead.
The Xbox Series S output is around 1440 HDR with 45 FPS, dropping down to 30 FPS when ray tracing is turned on, and the PS4 Pro handles relatively well at 1080p and 60 FPS. As for the PS4 and Xbox One, owners don’t have to miss out entirely, although the expected output is considerably less. At 900p and 45 FPS,Resident Evil Villagewon’t be the best experience, but it appears it’ll still be able to run somewhat smoothly.
As a last-ditch effort, players can always utilize Stadia’s cloud gaming technology to bypass any graphical limitations. Google is basically paying players to buyStadia withResident Evil Village, so the offer is pretty hard to turn down. That’s not to mention that the cloud-based platform performed well during the turbulent release ofCyberpunk 2077, which also had a similar promotional pre-order. Despite some questionable moves by Google, the service wouldn’t be a bad place to at least try out the demo.
On the other hand, some gamers are probably still keeping an eye out for any retailers that may restock the next-generation consoles.Walmart was the most recent retailer to add PS5 stockback to its line-up, only to have the inventory sell out instantaneously. The day before that, GameStop restocked on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, only to have bundles for both systems disappear within hours.
Resident Evil Villagewill launch on May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
