Ever since it appeared on a ratings board last year, rumors have been swirling that Activision is preparing to release aremaster of theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2campaignwith no multiplayer component. This has confused many, as theModern Warfare 2multiplayer was hugely popular back in the day, but if a new leak is to be believed, fans will still get access to the multiplayer maps at least.

This is according to Okami, a leaker who has accurately leakedCall of Dutynews in the past. Okami claims that Infinity Ward is adding theModern Warfare 2multiplayer mapsto the 2019Call of Duty: Modern Warfareso as to “not split the community.” Okami claims that they heard this news within the past week, but fans should take the information with a grain of salt. While Okami has been a reliable source ofCall of Dutyleaks in the past, it’s always best to wait for an official announcement before getting too excited.

As it so happens, a number ofModern Warfare 2maps have already been found inModern Warfaregame files in some capacity, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to see them all properly added to the game at some point. However, it remains to be seen if they would be added all at once, or if Infinity Ward would instead opt to release them slowly over time like it’s done with new multiplayer maps so far.

As it stands, there is currently oneModern Warfare 2map inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare.Infinity Ward added Rustat the beginning ofModern WarfareSeason 2, and it quickly became one of the game’s most popular maps. However, there were many other popularModern Warfare 2maps that would make great additions to theModern Warfaremultiplayer map lineup, with fan favorites like Favela, Estate, and Terminal yet to be added to the game.

If the information is accurate and theMW2maps are coming toModern Warfare, one has to wonder what this means for original maps in the game. While there have been a few multiplayer map remakes inCall of Duty: Modern Warfarealready, Infinity Ward has also released original maps like Atlas Superstore, Shoot House, and more. In fact, the next new multiplayer map coming to the game is abrand new map called Khandor Hideout.

Luckily, fans don’t have to wait much longer to find out if there’s any truth to Okami’s claims. In a separate tweet, the leaker has claimed that officialModern Warfare 2remasterinformation is likely coming on March 30.
