Fans have been hoping for moreSplinter Cellcontent for years, with Ubisoft constantly giving fans Sam Fisher cameos in their other projects. Fan requests for a new game focused on the goggle-wearing hero may have been heard, as a recent rumor states that newSplinter CellandAssassin’s Creedgames will be announced today. The only catch is that both projects will be for VR.

These VR projects wererumored to be in development last year, so official info from Ubisoft on the games seems believable. SomeSplinter Cellfans likely will not be happy, though, as this will come off as another tease for non-VR owners. While the technology has come a long way and certainly has its supporters, manySplinter Cellplayers want another traditional stealth game. Still, likeAssassin’s Creed, the series could be a great fit for virtual reality.

The game must not have sold well enough for Ubisoft, however, as it has been over half a decade since Sam got his own AAA game.

Splinter Cellis not the only series set to be revived through Virtual Reality, asRespawn’sMedal of Honor: Above and Beyondis releasing next year as a VR exclusive project. Both theSplinter CellandAssassin’s CreedVR games will supposedly be exclusive to Oculus, which should be a good indication that the games will be detailed and require a powerful VR setup to run. When the games will release is unclear, though that information could come with their reveal later today if this rumor proves to be true.
