Officially set to release on May 26, it now turns outSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguemight not see the light of day for another year. Spawning from theBatman: Arkhamseries of action-adventure video games,Suicide Squadcould be delayed much longer than previously reported.

Fans have been waiting for aSuicide Squadvideo game since at least 2010, when Geoff Johns, the then-Chief Creative Officer for DC Comics, announced one was in the works. This project, however, had been shelved by 2016, and it wasn’t until late 2020 that Rocksteady Studiosannounced thatSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguewas being developed.

Although still officially set for release on May 26, it was reported thatthe release date forSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguewas being pushed backinto the second half of 2023. But now it seems that the long-awaitedSuicide Squadvideo game will not be released until 2024. Or, at the very least, this is what’s being reported by Jeff Grubb on his Game Mess Decides podcast. “Listen, I don’t want to like, cause a panic or anything, but I heard it’s not even coming this year,” Grubb claims on his podcast, further stating, “I’m hearing 2024.”

While Grubb himself admits “this stuff is hard to nail down for sure,” he also stated that his source “has always been a very good one” in a show of confidence in their credibility. If Grubb’s reports are true, this would mean that the latest delay toSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s release would push the date much further back than previously reported. The report will certainly not please the many fans who have been expecting the release of the long-awaitedSuicide Squadvideo game for well over a decade.

Even though the news might not sit well with many fans, a delay in the release date is not necessarily a bad thing. Particularly since the video game received such harsh backlash afterSony’s State of Play broadcast revealed its DLC plans, which fans categorized as aggressive monetization practices. A postponement to the video game’s release date could very well give the developers more time to improve its mechanics and even rethink or rework some of its most controversial features.

The wait has been long for theSuicide Squadvideo game, and even though there has been criticism of the video game, the hype is real. After all, this is the last time the legendaryBatmanactorKevin Conroy played the Dark Knight before his passing. WhetherSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguegets postponed all the way back into 2024 or not, fans will have to wait a little longer for its release.
