Rumors have been swirling for years that Microsoft hasFable 4in active development at Playground Games, the studio behind the critically-acclaimed racing franchiseForza Horizon. Fans are still waiting on an official announcement, but a new image making the rounds online has led some to believe that we may have already gotten our first look atFable 4and what it will entail in terms of graphics.
The image was pulled from a YouTube video by Quixel, showing off the Megascans Ecosystem tool that’s used with Unreal Engine. Its photogrammetry technology is reportedly being used in the development ofPlayground’s RPG, which is rumored to beFable 4. The video shows an image of a fantasy town that looks similar to the art style of pastFablegames, which has led to speculation that it is an image ofFable 4.

While it’s possible that this is an image fromFable 4, the more likely explanation is that it is simply a tech demo of sorts to show off the Megascans technology. Considering this, fans shouldn’t put a ton of stock into the idea that this is legitimatelyFable 4or even an actual next-generation video game that is in active development at all. Still, ifFable 4is using this technology, then the image could provide an idea of what the next game inMicrosoft’s action-RPG seriesmay look like.
Luckily, fans may not have to wait too much longer to learn 4. Other rumors floating around online claim that Microsoft is gearing up for someXbox Series X game revealsas early as next month, withFable 4possibly being one of the games that the company will showcase. Considering this, fans may get a legitimate first-look atFable 4sooner rather than later.
Of course, this is assuming thatFable 4is even in development. Even though leaks from reputable sources have claimed thatPlayground Games is makingFable 4, it’s always possible that these leakers were given incorrect information or that plans changed during development. Considering this, it’s possible that Playground Games is working on another Microsoft franchise, or maybe even building a new IP. Ultimately, fans won’t know for sure until Microsoft decides to properly reveal the next title from Playground Games.
