Fans love Sasha Calle’sSupergirlfrom her introduction inThe Flashtrailer, but they might not want to get too attached, as there may be no plans to use this version of the character again in DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU reboot.Superman and Wonder Woman were cut fromThe Flash, Affleck’s cameo scene in the upcomingAquaman 2was cut,Man of Steel 2andWonder Woman 3were canceled, andBatgirlwas axed. Because of this, there is more pressure onThe Flashto deliver a proper ending to the premature demise of the Snyderverse and set up the new DCU reboot. Michael Keaton’s Batman was also confirmed to not move forward afterThe Flash, and reports suggest that the same could also be said for Calle’sSupergirl.RELATED:James Gunn Clarifies Batman Casting And The Flash Cameo RumorsAccording toGeekosity, Calle’s Supergirl was initially receiving a spinoff film following the events ofThe Flash. However, those plans were all cut for Gunn’s new DCU reboot. Geekosity states, “there were also reports that the plannedMan Of Steelsequel would’ve seen the pair [Henry Cavill’s Superman] finally team up.”Supergirl is a part of Gunn’s DC slatewith the movieSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. However, rumors suggest a different actress will play the role. It must be noted that this report is unverified, and neither Warner Bros. nor Calle has commented.

The Flashis heavily inspired by the graphic novelFlashpoint Paradox, but Superman is replaced with Supergirl, and Thomas Wayne’s Batman is replaced with Keaton. Fans familiar with the storyline may have an idea of how it’s supposed to reboot, but whether the characters return to their separate timelines or if the timelines (the Burtonverse and Snyderverse) are erased altogether remains to be seen. However, fans would prefer the former, hoping those storylines can continue. The Snyderverse fandom has embraced Calle’s Supergirl and wishes to see her again in thescrappedMan of Steelsequel.

The elephant in the room for why Warner Bros. Discovery has to be so selective with the DC franchise is almost certainly because of the financial crisis Warner Bros. Discovery finds itself in, which was reported to be a $50 billion debt. This begs the question of whether Warner Bros. Discovery is the best studio for DC, butThe Flashbox office numbers may play a factor in what is worth continuing and what is not.

The Flashis scheduled to be released in theaters on July 10, 2025.
