In episode 9 ofShe-Hulk, Jen Walters put Deadpool’s 4th wall-breaking skills to shame in one of the strangest MCU series finales of all time. Bruce is back from space, Titania returned with a full set of repaired veneers, Emil Blonsky violated the terms of his release, and Todd Phelps turned out to be the mastermind behind Intelligencia.

The episode was nothing if not chaotic, but it set up a lot of future storylines for Jen and the rest of theShe-Hulkcrew. The MCU made fun of its shortcomings, as well, which was hilariously absurd and just a little satisfying. There were tons of Easter eggs sprinkled throughout the 35-minute episode and Marvel fans should be excited for what’s to come.

Incredible Hulk TV Series

Episode 9opens with an introductory sequence that plays off the style of theIncredible HulkTV show that aired in the 70s. Complete with a narrator and a beefed-up version of Jen, she even throws in the iconic “you won’t like me when I’m angry” line.

Legally Blonde Movie Poster

After moving back into her childhood home, there’s a shot of Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods on aLegally Blondeposter hanging in Jen’s bedroom. It makes total sense that Jen would be obsessed with a film that’s all about a woman taking control of the courtroom, even when others doubted her.

The Marvel Menu

In one of the most insanely meta MCU 4th wall breaks ever, Jen escapes her own show when the viewer “turns off” the finale for being so terrible. She punches her way throughShe-Hulkon the Marvel menu screen fans see when they’re using Disney Plus, and hurls herself into Marvel Studios. This is honestly one of the most outlandish things Marvel has ever done, but it worked out pretty well for Jen in the end.

Marvel Studios NDA

The stars of the MCU are very open about the fact that they’re not allowed to give any sort of spoilers about upcoming projects. But despite the NDA contracts they’re required to sign, some celebrities likeTom Hollandjust can’t contain their excitement and accidentally give away bits of information they’re not supposed to.

When Marvel cast members spill the beans, they’re always worried about getting in trouble with Marvel Studios, which has become a meme among MCU fans. Jen having to sign an NDA before speaking to K.E.V.I.N. is likely a humorous nod to the fact that Marvel tries (and often fails) to keep things hush-hush.

All Projects End The Same

Jen very boldly criticizes the AI-generated endings K.E.V.I.N. has made for other Marvel projects, expressing what fans have been saying for years. Almost all Marvel projects end in a big fight with tons of action, and K.E.V.I.N. was surprised to hear that audiences were getting tired of the same old, same old.

Obviously, the robot is meant to be a parody of Marvel Studios presidentKevin Feige, and he undoubtedly played a part in creating theShe-Hulkfinale. This moment of self-awareness could imply that Marvel will be taking a new approach for finales in the future.

Visual Effects Team

K.E.V.I.N. tells Jen that she needs to de-Hulk herself, because it’s really expensive to show her in her Hulk form. He then says she has to do it when the camera is off her, because the visual effects team has moved on to another project. Right after he says this, a few notes from the music used inBlack Panthercan be heard, which is an obvious nod to the upcomingWakanda Forevermovie. It also pokes fun at the criticism Marvel has received about subpar CGI and special effects in recent projects.

Save It For The Movie

One of Jen’s demands for theShe-Hulkfinale is that Bruce doesn’t swoop in randomly to save the day. K.E.V.I.N. initially protests because he wants Bruce to explain why he’s been gone and introduce a new character, but Jen tells him to “save it for the movie.” Rumors of aPlanet HulkorWorld War Hulkfilm have been circulating for a while now, and it seems like Jen just confirmed there’s anotherHulk-centric projectin the works.

She-Hulk Season 2

After fixing the issues she had with her own season finale, Jen starts asking K.E.V.I.N. questions aboutthe X-Menand season 2 ofShe-Hulk. K.E.V.I.N. also tells her she won’t be appearing on the big screen anytime soon, so it’s extremely probable that the next time fans see She-Hulk will be in a second season of her own show.

Skaar

The final bomb drop of the episode came in the form of anew Hulk named Skaar, who Bruce revealed is actually his son. This obviously has something to do with his disappearance to Sakaar for a majority of the season and plays off theWorld War Hulkcomic book series.
