According to CDPR, this was done to prevent issues that could break the game due to incompatibilities with the new code.

Now, the modding community seems to be giving the first signs of coming back after thelaunch of theCyberpunk 20772.0 update. As reported by PC Gamer, some coreCyberpunk 2077mods such as Cyber Engine Tweaks and REDext are already working again. While these may not be very fancy projects, they are part of the backbone of the modding scene.
Cyberpunk Engine Tweaks, for instance, is a base-level building tool forCyberpunk 2077modders that gives them access to the game’s internal scripting and allows players to cheat. REDext, on the other hand, allows modders to use script extensions in the game, and it’s vital for the modding scene. With these two core mods working, more projects will be up to date soon. However, it’s possible that many mods that use these two projects as a basis won’t be working as intended right now, as Cyber Engine Tweaks, for instance, still requires more updates before being in a perfect state.
Unfortunately, several mods are still unavailable at the time of writing, as it takes individual actions from many creators for many of them to be fully updated. This means that some of thebestCyberpunk 2077modssuch as the ones that turn the game intoBlade Runner, or the ones that allow gamers to play as Ciri or Johnny Silverhand may still take a while to be available. The upside is that the new 2.0 update added plenty of new content toCyberpunk 2077. The update completely overhauled the police system, reworked the skill trees into something much better, added new perks, and, obviously, a brand new storyline that lasts for around 15 to 20 hours with the DLC.
