Sonic Frontiers' most recent DLC update may have evidence that another fan-favorite move will be coming to the game in the future. When it comes to downloadable content, sometimes information for future patches can be found in the files of each update. Dataminers have made quick work of investigating what the Sights, Sounds, and Speed DLC has added to the game, and it seems thatSonic Frontiershasn’t run out of surprises just yet.
Previously, some of these new files added after the recent free update may have leaked the identities of the upcomingnew playable characters inSonic Frontiers. It appears that Sonic Team wishes to set the groundwork for upcoming DLC waves ahead of time as newly discovered text teases the return of a move fans have been missing.

Found by Sonic Frontiers Facts on Twitter, the Sights, Sounds, and Speed update has silently added a few new tips to the game that explain how to activate the Spin Dash. While the Spin Dash has been around sinceSonic the Hedgehog 2on the Sega Genesis, the move was crucial for quick traversal and taking out tons of enemies inSonic Adventure 1and2. As a result, many fans of theAdventuretitles have missed the move and what it brought to the table.
It appears thatSonic Frontiers’Spin Dash is only for moving quickly across the map, though, as the tip explaining how to activate it in the air states that it won’t work if there are enemies nearby. While some fans are excited to see the iconic move make a return, others are questioning why it uses the boost gauge. It may be that the Spin Dash takes some of Sonic’s boost energy to charge up before zooming away at full speed once it’s released.
The tip text only explains how to activate the move and doesn’t explain how fans can get their hands on it. However, it may be something players can unlock. The Sights, Sounds, and Speed DLC forSonic Frontiersadded Battle Rushand Cyber Space Challenge modes, while the second update plans to add an “Open-Zone Challenge” mode. Judging by how Battle Rush and the Cyber Space Challenge unlocked extreme difficulty and a Cyber Space Power Boost feature respectively, it’s very likely that the Spin Dash will be the reward for completing the Open-Zone Challenge.
However, none of this is confirmed just yet. These Spin Dash tip texts could be left over from something else, and might not see any use in the game itself even afterSonic Frontiers’next DLC updatesdrop. Players will just need to wait and see if this classic technique makes a return in future updates from Sega.
