A new gameplay trailer for the newLords of the Fallengame has released, and with it a confirmed release date as well as a slew of pre-order information.Lords of the Fallenis a dark fantasy Soulslike game which takes heavy inspiration from FromSoftware’s industry-definingDark Souls.

Not to be confused with CI Games' 2014 title of the same name, this newLords of the Fallenwasoriginally confirmed asLords of the Fallen 2in December 2014, set to be released in 2017. Now nine years later, after some studio shake-ups, the sequel has dropped the “2” and is ready to perhaps give the franchise a fresh start after the original game’s mediocre reception almost a decade ago.

In a brand-new gameplay trailerLords of the Fallenhas finally revealed its release date of October 13. The trailer opens with a classically FromSoftware-like cinematic with extremely somber characters talking and moving very slowly. Iron Maiden’s “Fear of the Dark” fades in as the gameplay footage starts to roll, giving glimpses of some of the fearsome enemies, bosses, and environments players will encounter on their journey through the dark land of Mournstead. Intercut with all the action are several voice lines and moments from story characters.Soulslike games are characteristically very light on traditional cutscene storytelling, but it seems likeLords of the Fallenmay lean a bit into a slightly more active narrative.

Gamers looking to pre-order this thrilling looking Soulslike sequel will have the choice between Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Editions. The Deluxe Edition grants players the Dark Crusader Starting Class which includes an in-game longsword, throwing knives, a full set of armor and an amulet. Additionally, the Deluxe Edition gives players a 100 page digital artbook, a digital soundtrack, and an in-game 3D character model viewer. The Collector’s Edition, which also includes everything from the Deluxe Edition, features a 10-inch Dark Crusader figurine as the crown jewel, as well as an LED-lit metal display case for the figure,aLords of the Fallencollector’s steelbook, a double-sided poster, and a set of art cards.
