Splatoon 3is proving to be another big hit for Nintendo, running up impressive launch day numbers in Japan alone. While the core gameplay loop is largely the same as its predecessors, players have been discovering a lot of new and quality of life features as well. For example, the coop modeSalmon Run is now available to play at any time, players have a new table top card game they can play against AI opponents, and there’s a locker feature that players can customize with all sorts of earned collectables.

In addition to quality of life features like Squid Rush and Squid Surge, the limited time events called Splatfest have also been tweaked. Taking place every so often, Splatfests allow players to pick a side and participate in matches to earn points for their team. While Open and Pro modes return,Splatoon 3adds a special mode called Tricolor Turf Warwhich pits all three teams against one another to see which team can cover the most areas of the stage in their color.

However,Splatfests also have unique resources to obtainincluding things like Festival Shells as well as Clout. Here’s how players can earn Clout, what it’s good for, as well as how to earn lots of it quickly.

What is Clout?

Splatoon 3brings back the reputation system called Clout, which is onlyavailable during Splatfest Events. Earning Clout during Splatfest adds points to the player’s chosen team, ultimately determining which side has the highest level of Clout and coming out as the big winner. While CLout resets every Splatfest, players can check their currently earned amount by pressing the L Trigger in the Training room.

Essentially, simply playing in matches during Splatfest earns Clout. How much is earned at the end of a match is calculated based on the percentage of the map that is colored in the player and their teammate’s ink. Other factors for increasing earned Clout at the end of matches includes how much the enemy team was painted, how much enemy ink was dodged, and how much power the enemy team had. Winning matches also adds a bonus modifier to help push numbers even higher and for the team that ultimately wins Splatfest, bonus rewards will be handed out.

How to Earn Clout Quickly

Winning matches, while random, are the best ways to quickly earn more Clout inside ofSplatoon 3. However, there are a couple of other ways players can score more Clout, including partaking in Splatfest Battle Pro mode, which earns bonus points for eliminating players with a higher power level. One thing to keep in mind, is that Pro matches do not support parties and can only be played in solo matchmaking. Outside of Pro matches, playing with friends awards a Clout Synergy Bonus for those who are dressed the same or using the same weapons.

Occasionally, players may also come across special 10x, 100x, and 333x multipliers which will send the player’s Clout totals into overdrive. While 10x battles are a little more common than they were inSplatoon 2,winning this match earns a Festival Shell and a big boost to Clout. The more Festival Shells that a player can earn, the higher the chance that a 100x Clout boost match may spawn. However, if both teams manage to trigger a 100x battle at the same time, then an incredibly rare 333x battle will kick off, which awards a staggering amount of Clout. It’s worth mentioning that once a 100x or 333x battle is triggered, all Festival Shells are removed to reset the mechanic.
