There’s a new batch of rumors surrounding the upcoming Disney PlusStar WarsseriesAhsoka, and this one is so delightfully surreal and specific that it would be stranger if it turns out to be false. A couple of new characters seem to be joining the fray, but there’s also a new breed of stormtrooper allegedly waiting in the wings as well. If the rumors are true, they’ll be sporting an absolute look. But keep in mind that everything mentioned here is, in fact, an unconfirmed rumor unless otherwise specified.

Allegedly, the new characters will be closely associated with Grand Admiral Thrawn (potentially being played by Lars Mikkelsen), who has himself been heavily implied to be a rather important figure in the story ofAhsokaafter his last appearance onStar Wars Rebels. The rumor claims that one character, Baylon, reports directly to Thrawn while the other, Shin, is a Force-using assassin working for Baylon. Ray Stevenson, who has already appeared in severalStar Warsprojects as the voice of Mandalorian commander Gar Saxon, has been suggested as the actor behind Baylon. Meanwhile,Pacific Rim: Uprising’s Ivanna Sakhnois being hinted to play Shin.

Star Wars Episode IX Rise of Skywalker Kintsugi reforged

The rumors, which originate fromMaking Star Wars, seem pretty confident in their assertions. But the characters might not be the most intriguing part. The scoop site goes one step further with the idea that Thrawn, Baylon, and Shin will have a battalion of new stormtroopers under their command. These troopers will aid in the hunt for series leads Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka,Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s Sabine, and Eman Esfandi’s Ezra. The actors playing these aforementioned leads have been previously confirmed.

Reportedly, the stormtrooper armor design will take inspiration from Kylo Ren’s reforged helmet, as seen inStar Wars: Episode IX, which was inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi. Kintsugi, which translates as “golden joinery,” refers to repairing broken pottery with gold or silver to highlight the cracks rather than hide them. In-universe, this will supposedly come from the Nightsisters of Dathomir, who have “reforged” the troopers' armor (and perhaps the troopers themselves) using their magic.

Making Star Warshas tentatively coined the term “Sarrassion” to refer to the new stormtroopers, based on the Sarrassion iron used to reforge the helmet belonging toAdam Driver’s Kylo Ren. But they clarify that it’s more of a placeholder since the sources for their rumors haven’t offered any names. Still, all the information alleged seems too well put together to be just speculation.

Naturally, nothing here is confirmed in any official sense. So it’s worth taking it with a grain of that delicious and not at all divisive Crait salt. But it’s a lot to think about, andStar Warsfans know that stranger things have been proven true in this universe.
