AStar Wars Jedi: Survivorplayer might have just stumbled upon one of the most impressive kill animations in the game completely by accident. The long-awaited follow-up to 2019’s hitStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderlaunched to mostly positive reviews late last week.Star Wars Jedi: Survivorbuilds on the framework that made the previous RespawnStar Warsgame such a success by addingnew customization options for Cal Kestisand a few new lightsaber styles to take down his enemies with.
Naturally, Cal has no shortage of foes to defeat in his new quest to locate a lost Jedi planet free of the Empire’s influence, andStar Wars Jedi: Survivorgives fans plenty of options to cut down the numerous Battle Droids, bounty hunters, and dangerous wildlife he comes across. After he wears down his opponents usingJedi: Survivor’s new Dual-Wielding, Crossguard, and Lightsaber-and-Blaster fighting styles, Cal can finish them off using a small range of kill animations - and one player might have accidentally discovered a particularly brutal one during a seemingly normal round of combat.

Reddit user SVigilante witnessed this animationwhile playingStar Wars Jedi: Survivorearlier this week. Cal can be seen fighting a small band of electro-staff-wielding Bedlam Raiders near a large mining laser, which is capable of damaging enemies foolish enough to wander into its path. Cal takes down the last Raider near the beam, which completely disintegrates the unlucky mercenary just as Cal impales him with his lightsaber. It is a brutal and visually impressive scene, but as SVigilante notes it isn’t clear if it is a genuine execution animation or a complete accident.
Fans have uncovered plenty of fun surprises while playingStar Wars Jedi: Survivorover the weekend, including a strange scene of Battle Droids painting and a secret mini-boss named Rick the Door Technician. Not everyone is having the best time withJedi: Survivorthough, as the PC version of the game has been plagued with enough bugs and glitches to warrant a massive update patch mere days after launch. Additionally, some analysts are callingStar Wars Jedi: Survivorthe worst PC release of 2023 so far.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivormay be getting flooded with negative reviewsover these issues, but it has also earned high praise from many for its improved combat, which allows players to take down the forces of the Empire any way they see fit. The visually striking execution performed by SVigilante might not be an intentional animation created by Respawn, but it captures the unforgiving desperation of a lone Jedi struggling to survive in a galaxy fallen to the dark side surprisingly well.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivoris available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
