The rumor mill is a wonderful and fickle thing. In some cases, it might provide an oasis of hope for those who have gone far too long without any precious information regarding that cool geeky thing they like. For others, it could introduce a wild card into the deck, sowing chaos where once there was only order and dignity. The last part has arguably long since escaped theStar Warscommunity, so hopefully, this bit of potential news aboutThe Book of Boba Fettis more of the former.
Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett’s premiere on Disney Plus is inching ever closer, and with its impending debut, tradition dictates that rumors must flow. In this case, the newest bit of speculation involves the possible first live-action appearance of a certain ambiguously accented bounty hunter. Cad Bane, the suavely irritable mercenary seen throughoutThe Clone Warsanimated series as well as in arecent appearance onThe Bad Batch, could very well be about to make that same transition as Ahsoka and Bo Katan if a certain report from an unnamed source is accurate.

The report comes from LRM Online, which claims that an unspecified source of theirs confirms Cad Bane’s involvement inThe Book of Boba Fett. This particular site has a rather spotty track record when it comes to rumors, but it also shoots them out like newly hatched baby spiders, so maybe that just comes with the quantity. Other claims from the same site include the possible appearance of Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk in the series as well as the return ofTimothy Olyphant as Cobb Vanthafter his 1-episode run inThe Mandalorianthis past season.
Cad Bane charmed audiences throughout his appearances inthe various animatedStar Warsofferings, giving off a classic gunslinger vibe and sporting an accent that many still wonder about to this day. Voiced by Corey Burton, he became one of the many off-and-on recurring characters who often return just to be a particularly troublesome fly in the ointment for whichever heroes are unlucky enough to cross his path. His most recent foray inThe Bad Batchsaw him attempting to capture the young female clone Omega to collect the bounty on her, showing that his ways haven’t changed much since the rise of the Empire.
It would make a lot of sense to see such a character inThe Book of Boba Fett. Considering the show will presumably center on the criminal element of theStar Warsuniverse, it would almost be a shock if he wasn’t there. Plus,Ming-Na Wen’s character Fennec Shandnow has a history with Cad Bane, as seen inThe Bad Batch, so aside from Fett’s own experiences in the bounty hunter underworld, there’s also that connection.
On the other hand, how old would Bane be at this point? He was already a fully grown and seasoned bounty hunter when Boba Fett was still a child. Now that the clone is grizzled and middle-aged, wouldn’t the elder Duros be almost geriatric? How long do Duros live, anyway? Hey, maybe he’ll be one of those cool old guys still kicking butt. Or maybe the rumor is simply false.
Whatever the case, things should become clearer whenThe Book of Boba Fettpremieres on Disney Plus in December 2021.
