Mods are typically downloadable content that allows fans to adjust games to include certain aspects that the original game does not have, such as new farming equipment or easy teleportation. Some mods are built exclusively to facilitate the mechanics of the game, while others introduce entirely new areas or NPCs toStardew Valley. There’s amultitude of unique modsthat show immense dedication and care, including some that broaden the dating pool for players that are looking for love.

Updated June 11, 2025, by Hamza Haq:Thanks to its active modding community and huge player base, Stardew Valley’s modding scene continues to thrive years past its initial release date. Some of the most popular mods for the game are ones that add new characters for players to marry in Pelican Town. Marriage candidates can take the form of custom NPCs with new dialogue and brand-new stories or vanilla NPCs who have their backstories changed to accommodate a new romance with the new farmer who just moved into town. Since no character in Stardew Valley is voiced, making new characters is much, much more accessible to modders than if it were not. Thanks to this, fans looking for new marriage prospects to add to Stardew Valley will find too many options to count, making it somewhat difficult to find quality additions. Two new character mods have been added to the list to give even more options.
16Polyamory Sweet
0 Additional Marriage Candidates
ThePolyamory Sweetmodis a little unlike the others that add additional or new marriage candidates. Instead, this mod introduces the concepts of polyamory and consensual non-monogamy to Pelican Town and allows players to have multiple partners at a time. So, while it doesn’t exactlyaddpartners, it opens up the dating pool substantially.
For functional reasons, the player will likely have one main spouse (which can be changed freely), but other than that, they can have multiple partners and spouses, which will bring unique rooms to the house. It also allows the player’s other spouses to attend new weddings, other NPCs to kiss, and lets multiple characters sleep in one bed. This mod is all about free love, and gives players the chance to get to know all the people in Pelican Town on another level. It even adds a new NPC (non-romanceable) to oversee the custom items that help players manage their life, and the mod is regularly updated by its creator.

15Shiko
1 Additional Marriage Candidate
There are plenty of custom NPCs in the world ofStardew Valleymods, and gamers all over the world work hard to tailor the game in a personal way.Shikois a great example of the kinds of NPCs that fans are making, and is a great way to see how much they can add to theStardewexperience.
Shiko is a cool ex-model who moves to Pelican Town for a little peace after her life of stardom. This effortlessly-stylish icon comes with her own set of heart events and is completely romanceable, meaning players can marry her and have her move out of the Stardrop Saloon and into the farmer’s house. Any player who wants a mysterious and glamorous partner will absolutely love this mod.

14Isla
Islais another custom NPC mod, adding a mysterious new character who’s a little harder to pin down than the usual Pelican Town singles. Isla is an aqua-haired NPC with a mystical nature whom the player can meet if they venture to the beach at the right time. Getting to know her will reveal brilliant secrets, and slowly, the player can grow a beautiful relationship with her.
Isla is a very cool and unique custom NPC unlike any other denizen ofStardew Valley, which gives players a really fresh romantic experience. She prefers sea-based gifts and comes complete with all the heart events, as well as her own spousal room if players decide to marry her. She even has different seasonal outfits, just likeStardew Valley’s1.6 update, and attends Pelican Town’s various events - with her own dialogue and location.

13The Robin Romance Mod
Stardew Valleyhas many marriage candidates in its vanilla version, with varying personalities and traits that appeal to different tastes. In the base game, Robin is married to Demetrius. The Robin Romance Modmakes it so that Robin finds herself newly single after a divorce with Demetrius, ready for something new. And if that something new is the farmer who just moved into the empty farm west of town? Well, that’s just how fate works.
With this mod installed, a new character, Veronica, who is Robin’s sister, takes on Robin’s job at the Carpentry shop, leaving Robin free to explore other options in life. Players can now romance Robin, marry her, and have her move into their house with custom, reactive dialogue and heart events.

12Romanceable Rasmodius And Romanceable Rasmodia
This mod does add a “new” marriage candidate, but not quite in the way players may think.Romanceable Rasmodiusspecifically makes Rasmodius a marriage candidate and brings 6 unique heart events as players grow their relationship with him. It also adds dozens of new dialogue lines for Rasmodius and adjusts his behaviour post-marriage. The mod works alongsideStardew Valley Expanded, and will need that installed to work properly.
Romanceable Rasmodiaworks withStardew Valley Expandedor Romaceable Rasmodius to make a female iteration of Rasmodius that is romanceable. It literally turns Rasmodius into Rasmodia, and will adjust the game to fit Rasmodia’s character without changing too much else. It’s a perfect option for players who don’t really want to switch up their game, but would like to see a cool Witch in the forest tower instead of a Wizard.

11Lucikiel - New Custom NPC
An insert character from the mobile game King’s Raid,Lucikielis quite unlike the other residents of Pelican Town. He comes from a fantasy world of demons and angels, and his dialogue reflects that. Luckily, players don’t need to have played King’s Raid before to understand and enjoy Lucikiel. His backstory is explained through an in-game introduction event. In Pelican Town, Lucikiel finds himself working for Clint, mining ore and killing monsters in the mines.
Not only is Lucikiel an interesting character on his own, but he is also an excellent hunting partner, willing and able to accompany the player into the depths of the Mines and to kill monsters alongside them. He even has special abilities that buff the player’s character. For romance, Lucikiel has 14 heart events, and even two different possible children named Ezekiel (boy) and Viska (girl), with their own dialogue.

10Aspen - New Custom Dateable NPC
This mod adds a blonde namedAspentoStardew Valleyin an immersive way. With the mod is implemented, Aspen seems a part of Pelican Town just as much as anybody else, with a detailed backstory and understandable reasons for being there. Due to the blockage caused by the Joja facility, she finds herself stuck in Pelican Town and can’t return to her own farm, which is a little ways away. As a result, she slowly integrates into the daily goings-on in this quaint corner of the world, makes friends of her own, and is fully a part of the town by the time the player meets her.
Aspen is fully romanceable with hundreds of lines of dialogue, heart events up to year 3, and a lot more. The mod is still in development, and the mod author plans to add more content in new updates, but it is fully playable in its current state.
9Always Raining In The Valley
This brilliantStardew Valleymod adds three wonderful new NPCs, and one of them -Sterling- is available for players to fall in love with. It’s a mod that specifically builds on the East Scarp mod, so players should be sure to download that one first. All three new characters, Henry, Mia, and Sterling Cooper, have unique dialogue and outfits that change based on the event and location.
The main draw of this mod is the new storyline it adds to the East Scarp area, but Sterling is a great new addition to the marriage pool. Although he’s a little bit lost, his genuine nature makes him a very endearing and a brilliant new choice for players - particularly since he’s unlike any other marriage candidate so far. The mod also adds new recipes for any players who enjoy cooking. It’s worth noting that the mod does not change the weather, and the title is more for dramatic impact.
8Adventurer’s Guild Expanded
2 Additional Marriage Candidates
TheAdventurer’s Guild Expandedmodelaborates on the monster aspects ofStardew Valleyand adds completely new lore on where they come from, as well as additional information about the mines. Players can even become friends with a little monster companion who will come to live in their house.
Most importantly, this mod adds two additional NPCs - Marlon’s children - who move to Pelican Town to start a monster research wing of the Adventurer’s Guild.Gabriel and Zinniamove to the Stardew Valley as young adults, and each of them have 6 unique events at different stages of their relationship with the player. This mod adds a whole new dimension to the mines/monster sections of the game, and both new NPCs bring something fresh to the dating pool while also giving the player a little more insight into Marlon’s backstory.
7Juliet and Jessie the Joja Clerks
In this mod,Juliet and Jessieare two additions to Pelican Town with drastically different demeanors and mannerisms. Where Julie is brash, flirty, and wears her emotions on her sleeve, Jessie is a motherly, understanding, and always ready to lend a helping hand. Both are clerks at JojaMart due to different reasons, but they couldn’t be more different. Both live in a manor behind the community center and are seamlessly integrated into the lives of the residents, offering comments about other NPCs in certain situations.
Both Juliet and Jessie are romanceable, though Juliet only becomes available as a potential love interest after the community center is fully completed. The mod is feature-complete in its current state, but more add-ons are planned for the future as well.
