When it comes to big-budget console exclusives, PlayStation owners really are spoiled for choice. Thanks toSony’s impressive and ever-growing collection of first-party development studios, the company’s systems have been treated to some of the very best narrative-driven single-player experiences of all time, with more being released all the time.
However, with so manygreat games to choose from, it can be difficult to know where to begin. Given how common review-bombing is these days, User Scores aren’t particularly helpful, and critic reviews aren’t all that much better depending on who one asks. With this in mind, some may choose to measure a game’s quality by the percentage of players who go on to complete it, as indicated by Trophy data.

In instances where a game was later re-released, data from the original version will be used. However, in the event that a game was released simultaneously across both the PS4 and the PS5, this list will only consider data from the PS5 version.
Updated July 31, 2025, by Tom Bowen:First-party exclusives have played an important role in the success of Sony’s PlayStation line of consoles; more so in recent years. The PS4 and PS5 are home to some of the best PlayStation exclusives of all time, most of which have sold tens of millions of copies. However, some will perhaps argue that a game is only as good as its completion rate, which seems a fair point given how long it can take to complete most modern video games. Sony once again leads the way in this department, though, with most of its games scoring well above average when it comes to the percentage of players who hang around until the end credits.

15Horizon Forbidden West
Completion Percentage: 29.2% (Discovered Nemesis)
WithElden Ringreleased just one week later, to say that the launch ofHorizon Forbidden Westwas a little overshadowed would perhaps be a bit of an understatement. Even so, the game still sold well and was a hit with both critics and players alike. Trophy data suggests that just under a third of them unlocked the Discovered Nemesis Trophy, which isn’t bad at all consideringits main story takes around thirty hours to complete.
14Horizon Zero Dawn
Completion Percentage: 32.1% (Ended the war machine threat)
Those who believe thatHorizon Forbidden Westwas unlucky with its release window should spare a thought for its poor predecessor.Horizon Zero Dawnlaunched just three days beforeThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which undoubtedly had a big impact on initial sales. It eventually found its audience though, as evidenced by the game’s solid 32% completion rate, which is all the more impressive considering the game was given away for free as part ofSony’s Play at Homeinitiative back in April of 2021.
13Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Completion Percentage: 34.8% (Destiny’s Crossroads)
Though not a first-party title,Final Fantasy 7 Remakeis a PlayStation exclusive, just as many of the previousFinal Fantasygames have been since the series' seventh installment. Like many of the other great exclusives of the modern era,Final Fantasy 7 Remakewas at one point given away for free to PS Plus members, making its completion rate all the more impressive. Just under 35% of players have unlockedthe Destiny’s Crossroads Trophy on PS4, with a similar percentage having done so on PS5.
12Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Completion Percentage: 37.2% (Charted! - Explorer)
Another big-budget PlayStation exclusive that was free for a while isUncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Nathan Drake’s final outing was one of thefree monthly PS Plus gamesback in April of 2020, which helped to bring the total number of players up to an eye-watering 37 million. Just over 37% of those players unlocked the Charted! - Explorer Trophy, which works out to be around 14 million people. That’s not counting those who completed the game on PC or PS5, either.
11Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Completion Percentage: 37.4% (2 Fuzz 2 Nefarious)
There have been plenty of great platforming duos over the years, from Banjo and Kazooie to Jak and Daxter. Few, if any, though, are as enduring asRatchet & Clank, with the titular Lombax and robot having appeared in countless adventures over the years. Their debut outing for the PS5 came inRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which proved to be a huge hit with both players and critics alike. A significant portion of those who picked it up ended up completing it, with around 37% of playersunlocking the 2 Fuzz 2 Nefarious Trophy.
10The Last of Us
Completion Percentage: 39.3% (No Matter What - Easy)
When it comes to first-party exclusives, they really don’t come much bigger thanThe Last of Us. Having been released across three different console generations andadapted into a hit television seriesby HBO, few can question the excellence of this post-apocalyptic title. On paper, its 39% completion rate may seem a little on the low side, but given how many copies it’s sold, that’s still an awful lot of people who unlocked the No Matter What - Easy Trophy on their PS3s.
9Ghost of Tsushima
Completion Percentage: 39.9% (Mono No Aware)
Its Metacritic rating may be a little on the low side when compared to some of the other great PlayStation exclusives, butGhost of Tsushimais an incredible title nonetheless. 40% of players stuck around long enough to witness Jin Sakai’s transformation into the titular character, unlocking the game’s Mono No Aware Trophy in the process. Doing so required them tomake an impossible choice, with Jin sacrificing far more than just his honor to save the island and its inhabitants from the Mongol invaders.
8Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Completion Percentage: 42.1% (Confluence of Worlds)
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthis bigger and better than its predecessor in almost every measurable way, allowing players to continue this epic and iconic adventure in style. Despite this, it appears as thoughsales ofRebirthmay have been quite a bit lower thanRemake, although, at 42%, the completion rate is significantly higher. Interestingly, though, the percentage of people who got the Platinum Trophy inRebirthis actually a little lower; likely due to all of its mini-games and uber-difficult combat simulator fights.
7God of War Ragnarok
Completion Percentage: 46.1% (Ragnarök)
God of War Ragnarokhad some pretty big shoes to fill, though, luckily, Kratos is a pretty big dude. Helped by an excellent cast of supporting characters, the Greek God was able to deliver a phenomenal sequel which many felt deserved to win the 2022 Game of the Year award. It may not have picked up the top prize, but it did win the hearts of many players; 46% of whom unlocked the Ragnarök Trophy by completing its main story.
6God of War
Completion Percentage: 46.2% (Last Wish)
The team over at Santa Monica Studio took a huge gamble when they decided to reboot its hugely popularGod of Warseries, but boy did it pay off. Many regardGod of Waras the best game of the eighth console generation and both its Metacritic rating and user score would certainly back this up. Of the tens of millions of people who’ve played it, 46.2% have unlocked the Last Wish trophy, which is some achievement when one considers that it was part ofthe PS Plus collectionfor so long.
