A helpful trick can helpThe Callisto Protocolplayers unlock the game’s hardest achievement easy. The Callisto Protocolreleased recently to somewhat mixed reviews, with some horror fans praising it as a successful homage toDead Space, and others disappointed with its short length and story. Regardless, there are many horror fans who are interested in completing the game 100%, which of course means unlocking all of the associated achievements and trophies.

The Callisto Protocolachievementsare mostly straight-forward, except for the ones that involve finding all the collectibles and hidden areas in the game. There is one achievement/trophy inThe Callisto Protocolthat can be fairly difficult to unlock when done legitimately, and that is the Maximum Security achievement, awarded to those who manage to beat the game on the hardest difficulty setting. However, there is a way to cheese this achievement and unlock it fairly easily.

To do this exploit,The Callisto Protocolplayers need to start a new save on the Maximum Security difficulty. Once players have control of protagonist Jacob Lee, they can pause the game, go into the settings, and change the difficulty to easy. After beatingThe Callisto Protocol’s final bosson the easy setting, all players have to do next is swap the difficulty back to Maximum Security and finish the last chunk of the game. The achievement/trophy should unlock at this point, even if players didn’t play through the whole game on Maximum Security.

There have been some conflicting reports about whether or not players can still do this exploit by simply changing the difficulty at the end without starting on Maximum Security. In our own experience, this does not work, but mileage may vary. To play it safe,The Callisto Protocolplayers who want to unlock all the achievements/trophies should start a new game on Maximum Security difficulty, switch to easy, then switch back to Maximum difficulty at the end.

Of course, it’s possible that future updates forThe Callisto Protocolwill patch this exploit and force players to complete the game on Maximum Security, but it’s possible future updates will make this more manageable as well. The Callisto Protocolis getting a New Game+ modein February, and if it lets players change difficulties, they would potentially be able to play through on Maximum Security difficulty with upgraded gear and make their lives quite a bit easier.

Besidesfree updates forThe Callisto Protocol, fans can also look forward to premium content, including new story content next summer. It remains to be seen if any of the post-launch content will add new achievements/trophies to unlock, but fans will find out in the months ahead.

The Callisto Protocolis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox SerieS X.
