The servers forThe Finalsare apparently so full that login queues have been added to the game’s open beta. Developer and publisher Embark Studios has had to employ the tactic to combat the overwhelming popularity of the ongoing beta which is slated to continue until November 5. Additionally, the official social media account has shared that Embark Studios is working to expand capacity and that the login queues should only be a temporary solution.

The Finalsis still in the initial days of the open beta, with the opening hours being somewhat overwhelming. Still, out of all the issues a game could have, being too popular isn’t the worst problem. While it’s frustrating that players can’t login to the game immediately, betas are designed to stress servers and point out potential issues. Early adopters are always the first to experience bugs as new products struggle through initial growing pains. Again, however, the login queue should only be temporary as Embark Studios looks to increase player capacity.

One aspect that has gamers excited aboutThe Finalsis itsBattlefield-inspired take on widespread map demolition. The Finalshas takenBattlefield’s destruction mechanics to the next levelwith stages that can be fractured rather than simply destroyed. Fallen buildings still maintain some of their original form and create new shelters and pathways, changing the landscape of the map. This feels like the next evolution of the fan-favorite mechanic which makes sense considering the Embark Studios team is made up of several ex-Battlefielddevs.

The overwhelming player count is even more impressive given that thefall 2023 video game release calendarhas been so packed with excellent titles. But with another big FPS title inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3coming in just a couple of weeks, it’s also likely a strategic time for a game in the genre to launch an open beta.

The Finalsis currently in open beta for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
