With the sequelSons of the Forestdue out for early accesson February 23, Endnight Games' indie series is currently the talk of the town, especially in the horror scene. The original was released in 2018, after an early access launch in 2014, at a time when survival games were all the rage. However, while the main objective can take hours to complete, a person going by the name Akaya has managed to finishThe Forestin a pretty eye-watering time, with the clock showing that it took only 20 minutes and 17 seconds. The video, which was uploaded to IGN’s YouTube channel recently, features Endnight’s lead designer Evan Haley andSon’s of the Forest’s project director Rod Green offering up commentary on the speedrun. Both are impressed with how quickly Akaya can run through the titular forest, picking up initial items, exploring caves, and dodging enemies in order to get to their son. Obviously, for those who haven’t completed the game, the video contains major story spoilers.
