According to the developers, there was an almost 1,000 percent increase in sales for the series from March to May 2020, likely due to the COVID-19 Pandemic lockdowns. Sales have leveled off since, but the series still has a strong player-base, so many fans were awaiting this announcement. The developer’s reason for the release date wait was that they have a speedy annual release cycle, so the time between submission to game platforms and release is quick. The post to Twitter also confirms that a 10 percent discount for the Steam version of the game will be available if U.S. players pre-order the game now.
