As one of Bloober Team’s biggest and most ambitious projects yet,The Mediumwill be arriving through Xbox Game Pass for next-gen consoles and PC on January 28.The Medium’s producer Jacek Zieba gave an interview for VG247 discussing the game’s upcoming release, and said he was incredibly impressed with the way the Xbox Series S was able to run the game. This is good news for Xbox Series S owners, as even though it is the less powerful of the consoles, it will apparently run the game in high quality.
InThe Medium, developed by Bloober Team, players will search for answers as a medium who inhabits both the real world and spirit world, with the game taking place in both. In the story, the player travels to an abandoned hotel resort to unravel the truth behind an unthinkable tragedy. The dual realities of the spirits and the livinggive players access to two worlds and two sides to the stories while giving life to the environment.

Zieba praised the Xbox Series S and X, saying that developing for the two consoles was “a really pleasant experience” and “mostly a no-brainer.” As an owner of an Xbox Series S, Zieba played the game and said he was shocked at the console’s performance. “The architecture of S, of this little while box, is just awesome." According to Bloober Team, creatingThe Mediumthe way they wantedwasn’t possible without next-gen consoles.
While the Xbox Series S doesn’t allow for 4K resolution, the graphic art style ofThe Mediumtranslates well. While the producer noted there may be little differences because of the lower resolution, they said they loved the way the game looked and felt. “I was blown away because I thought I played on Series X,” he said. WhileThe Mediumis releasing for the Xbox Series consoles, it is also available for players on PC who have an Xbox Game Pass subscription, andPC requirements forThe Mediumhave been released.
The Mediumis classified as an action-adventure and survival game, and is one of themost anticipated horror games of 2021. Judging from Bloober Team’s past games, players should expect quite the creepy story and environment. In the same interview, Zieba and Lead Designer Wojciech Piejko discussed the way their team builds on previous titles with new features to “level up as a studio,” with new stories for each title. The studio’s previous titles includeLayers of Fear,Observer, andBlair Witch.
