Every October,The Simpsonsunveils its annual “Treehouse of Horror” Halloween special. Having been a staple since season two, the episode features three horror segments set up like a horror anthology episode. While the episodes may range in quality, they are an annual fun event for fans ofThe Simpsons.

8Treehouse of Horror XXI (2010)

This special also broughtJumanjiback to the viewers' attention with a special featuring Bart and Millhouse. And Homer and Marge go on a second honeymoon; however, a castaway disrupts their vacation.

7Treehouse of Horror XIX (2008)
Peanutsmay have introduced viewers far and wide to the Great Pumpkin, butThe Simpsonsfound a way to perfect it. Millhouse summons the Great Pumpkin, but it turns out to be a cannibal. The pumpkin attacks Springfield until Lisa convinces Millhouse to believe in a giant turkey, to make the fowl come and attack the pumpkin.
This episode also capitalized ontheTransformerspopularityof the mid-2000s, as the city’s cars turn into battle robots waging war with each other. What’s more, Homer kills Krusty and that leads to an ad agency asking him to kill other celebrities, so they don’t have to pay royalties.

6Treehouse of Horror XXVIII (2017)
Cannibals,possession, andCoraline, oh my! This Treehouse of Horror episode features Homer becoming a cannibal. However, his cannibalism comes out in an expected way. He discovers he likes the taste of his own flesh, and plans to eat himself.
Meanwhile, Lisa enters a newer Halloween-themed film world as she ends up in a place with people who look like they are from the stop-motion movieCoraline. And last but not least, a demon possesses Maggie, working the youngest Simpson into the fun and horror.

5Treehouse of Horror XXIII (2012)
Back to the Futureremains one of the greatest films of all time, so it makes senseThe Simpsonswould parody it. In this Treehouse of Horror episode, Bart decides to make changes to his present by going back in time and stopping Marge from marrying Homer.
Another segment also took aim at the found footage horror filmParanormal Activity. In the segment, Home began conducting his own paranormal investigation with his usual Homer shenanigans.

4Treehouse of Horror XX (2009)
Alfred Hitchcock films are considered by many to be the peak of horror, and it makes sense thatThe Simpsonswould parody them. This is shown in the 20th annualTreehouse of Horrorwhen Lisa and Homer both seek vengeance; Lisa against Miss Hoover and Homer against Moe.
But this special doesn’t just cover Hitchcock films. The final segment features a zombie story that serves as a loving parody of the film28 Days Later.

3Treehouse of Horror XVI (2005)
In this Halloween episode, Bart learns a valuable lesson after he’s injured and replaced. Bart takes part in a reckless stunt and ends up in a coma. So, the Simpsons replace him with a robot son. It shows one of Bart’s greatest fears connected to his family.
Meanwhile, this episode presents the most evil versionof Mr. Burns. During this tale, Mr. Burns decides that he’s hunted almost all the greatest game animals, except one: man.

2Treehouse of Horror XXV (2014)
By the mid-2010s, much of the charm ofThe Simpsonshad dissipated. The show still had a lot of steam, and the creators were still turning out entertaining television, but it didn’t always land with the same punch as it had in years past.
Still, for the 25thTreehouse of Horrorevent,The Simpsonswent back to its roots. The entire series was spawned from a skit onThe Tracy Ullman Show. This episode featured those original versions of the characters afterBart reads a messagein Aramaic that transports him and Lisa to another dimension.

1Treehouse of Horror XIII (2002)
The early 2000s are when a lot of fanssayThe Simpsonslost its luster. And while many may say the 2002 season as a whole wasn’t as good as previous seasons, the Treehouse of Horror special still managed to deliver, proving that the show still had some strength.
The episode features endless clones of Homers that exist due to a magical hammock. Meanwhile, Dr. Hibbert manages to transform people into animals, and gun-toting zombies cause mayhem in and around Springfield.
