8Age-Appropriate Romances
The Sims 4frowns upon relationships between teenagers and adults. As a result, it’s impossible for a teenager to date an adult. However, if both of the Sims are adults, nothing stands in the way of their relationship.
Adults can have relationships with elder Sims, but these can be problematic in a certain aspect. If the elder exert themselves too much when woohooing, they can die! Meanwhile, as for teenagers, they can date other teenagers and “mess around,” but they don’t take their clothes off during more intimate moments as adult Sims do.
7Certain Character Traits Help
Some Sims have an advantage over others when it comes to building romantic relationships or even finding friends. If Sim chooses a romantic aspiration, they will have the Alluring trait, which will help them lure in partners faster. Being open to flirtations also helps, as well as being confident. On the other hand, Un-Flirty Sims will have a harder time forging romances with those they like.
Another trait that isn’t available in Create-A-Sim but can be bought in the reward store is the “Great Kisser” trait, which increases romantic feelings greatly with each kiss.
6Start With Friendship
If a Sim wants to romance someone, the best first step is to befriend the other person. Once they become good friends, the other Sim might be more open to flirtatious advances. It’s not always a given, but it helps.

Another trick is to watch the Sim’s mood. If the Sim is flirting with someone who’s angry, sad, or bored, chances are they won’t be so happy and won’t respond in kind. If the Sim reacts negatively to the flirting, it’s best to backpedal and return to the friendly interactions, to keep building another aspect of their relationship before moving on to romance.
5Married Sims Are More Resistant To Romance
Even if a Sim likes someone who isn’t single, they don’t have to give up their quest for love. However, if they try to flirt with the person too fast, they might get a negative response.
Once again, the best option is to build a strong friendship before attempting any flirty interactions. Taken Sims will often need to have a more full friendship relationship bar with the player’s Sim before they can start flirting than the Sims who are single.
4Build Relevant Skills
Just like the traits, building relevant skills can also help when trying to become romantically evolved with someone. The two most relevant skills are Charisma and Comedy.
Charisma is fairly obvious. The higher the level, the more charming the Sim is and they befriend the other Sim more easily. Meanwhile, the Comedy helps with making Sims laugh. As a result, they will feel good in a Sim’s company and will be more open to creating a lasting relationship with them, be it a friendship or a romance.
3Romancing Non-Humans
The game allows for a lot more options when it comes to romance than in real life. In addition to romancing supernatural creatures, such as vampires, mermaids, and mages, it offers Sims the option to form romances with ghosts.

Ghosts can visit the Sims' homes if they died there, or if the lot has the Haunted trait. Alternatively, they can also try out their luck in romancing the Grim Reaper — but to achieve that, they will have to kill one or more Sims.
2Sims Get Jealous
SomefunSims 4challengesask the players to help their Sims romance 100 people or have 100 babies, each with a different partner. That means Sim has to have multiple romantic relationships at once. And unsurprisingly, if the Sim’s partners learn about them cheating, they’re not happy about it. It can severely damage their relationship or even destroy it.
Luckily, there’s a way around it. If the Sim manages to complete the Serial Dater aspiration, they will get a new character trait as a reward. From then on, their partners won’t get jealous even if they witness them flirting with someone else.
1It’s Possible To Use Cheats And Mods
Just like in every other aspect of the game, it’s also possible to use cheats and mods to influence the relationships of the Sims. For example,one mod allows teenagers to date adultsas well, not just other teenagers. They can even get pregnant. Another mod offers a dating app called Simda, which is similar to Tinder.
As for the cheats, there are multiple options depending on what the player is trying to achieve. Players can use them to make Sims friends or partners instantly, help Sim befriend their pet, or even break up a marriage.
