The Cowplant inThe Sims 4is one of the most unique plants in the entire game. When fully grown, it becomes a sentient creature that requires daily nourishment in order for it to thrive. Unlike other plants, the Cowplant will become aggressive if not fed every twelve hours and will sometimes attempt to eat Sims if it’s hungry.

Before players can grow a Cowplant inThe Sims 4, they must first find a Cowplant Berry and plant it. After a few days, the Cowplant Berry will grow into a Cowplant, and players will need to start caring for it immediately. There arefive ways to acquire Cowplant Berries, but some methods are easier than others.

How To Get A Cowplant Berry In The Sims 4

Players can acquire Cowplant Berries throughDigging,Space Exploration,Fishing,Ordering Seeds, andGrafting. Each activity, when done in a certain way or at a specific location, has a chance of rewarding players with the berry they seek, but not all methods are as reliable as others.

Grafting

Players hoping to create an endless source of Cowplant Berries can do so through the Gardening Skill, but this method requires a pretty hefty amount of work. First, a Sim must reachLevel 5 in the Gardening Skill, after which they will gain the option to cut and graft plants.

Players will then need to grow aStrawberry bushand aSnapdragon flower, the seeds of which can be found in the garden behind the bungalow in the bottom right corner of Willow Creek’s map. Once each plant is fully grown, they can be cut and grafted onto each other. Doing this will cause each plant to produce Dragonfruit for Sims to harvest.

Afterplanting the Dragonfruitand waiting until it’s fully grown, players can graft it with a Snapdragon flower, which will cause the resulting plant to produce Cowplant Berries.

Space Exploration

The chance of obtaining a Cowplant Berry by exploring space is pretty random. To make matters worse, pursuingthe Astronaut careeris also quite time-consuming, so players may wish to avoid seeking out a Cowplant Berry with this method.

That said, those who already have access to a Rocket should at least consider acquiring a Cowplant Berry by exploring space, as the venture can reward them with other unique items as well. Selecting the “Explore Space” option after clicking the Rocket, the player’s Sim will board and take to the skies, where they will begin a random mission. Completing theTrials of the Green Manmission can reward the Sim with a Cowplant Berry, but it might take several attempts before the mission becomes available.

Digging

Players have a chance to find Cowplant Berries bydigging for treasure. The chances of acquiring a Cowplant Berry via this method are random, so unless players are already planning to dig for treasure as part of theCurator aspiration, they can feel free to search for Cowplant Berries using the next, much more reliable method.

Fishing

The easiest way to find and acquire Cowplant Berries inThe Sims 4is to visit theDesert Bloom Parkin the Oasis Springs andfish in the small pondnext to the mountains. Before venturing to this location, players should ensure that their Sim’s needs are met, as they may need to spend a long time here before they can acquire one.

So long as players are patient, they will eventually obtain a Cowplant Berry that they can then plant and grow into a Cowplant. Players hoping to get a Cowplant as quickly as possible should use this method as, although it can be a little time-consuming, it’s easily the best way of finding large quantities.

Ordering Seeds

Players who haveThe Sims 4: SeasonsExpansion Packcan also purchase Cowplant Berries when they reachLevel 10 in the Gardening aspiration. To do this, they must select the “Purchase Seeds” option when interacting with the garden where the Strawberries and Snapdragons were found; then, they should buy theRare Seedspack that appears in the menu.

This method of acquiring a Cowplant Berry is technically easier than the other methods, but since it requires a Sim to complete the Gardening aspiration first, it can take an extremely long time to unlock. That, and the fact that Sims can grow Cowplants when they reach Level 5 of the Gardening Skill, makes this method a bit redundant.

What Does The Cow Plant Do?

When fully grown, the Cowplant must be fed every twelve in-game hours; otherwise, it will begin to hunger for the player’s Sims. If this happens, the strange plant will attempt to lure Sims with its cake-shaped tongue, encouraging them to take a bite. If players aren’t paying attention, there is a high possibility that their Sim will attempt to eat the cake on their own, prompting the Cowplant to eat them.

If players are lucky, the Cowplant will spit their Sim back out; if not, there is a chance that the Sim might die. If this happens, the Grim Reaper will appear, giving players a chance to plead for their Sim’s life before they are taken from the world.

Owning a Cowplant isn’t all doom and gloom; however, it can actually be a pretty neat addition to one’s home, but only if players take care of it. So long as it is fed every twelve hours, it won’t cause any trouble, and players will be able to perform some pretty adorable interactions by clicking on it. However, if players fail to feed their Cowplant for twenty-four hours,it will die, leaving only a skeleton behind, so it’s important to cater to the creature’s needs at least once a day.

The Cowplant can also be milked after it has consumed a Sim. If the Sim died after being eaten, players can milk the Cowplant to acquire anEssence of Life potionthat, when drunk, will partially increase the drinker’s lifespan; if the Sim was regurgitated, the potion it produces will place whoever drinks it inthe same moodthe ingested Sim was in before they were swallowed.

The Sims 4is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
