A player leaked gameplay photos fromThe Sims 5. Electronic Arts opened signups forThe Sims 5playtesterslast month, where players got to experience early builds of the game.
Nicknamed Project Rene,The Sims 5is said to be the next generation of the popular life simulation game. Although most details are still scarce, developer Maxis revealed that it leveled up the decorating feature with more customization options for furniture. The game will also have a multiplayer feature that will allow players to collaborate with their friends.

Nearly a month after EA’sThe Sims 5playtest started, a player named MeowDayThe13th uploaded gameplay photos from the said playtest onThe Simssubreddit. One photo revealed that there will be apartments in the game. The rest mostly showed how building and decorating would look like in the game, which were similar to previous announcements. In the comments, they shared that aside from moving and rotating furniture, players can also resize and retexture them.Click here to see the images, but note that there is a possibility they will be taken down.
Fellow players seemed excited about the upcoming features, while some expressed concerns thatThe Sims 5might look too different from the previous games. They thought the building and decorating functions might be more complicated now, especially with reports thatThe Sims 5will run on Unreal Engine 5. MeowDayThe13th assured them that if the gamewill keep functions they tried on the playtest, the community might like them.
Another big question among the community was whetherThe Sims 5would be open worldlikeThe Sims 3. However, there seems to be no indication yet as the playtest only allowed players to build and decorate apartments. Nonetheless, many said that they skippedThe Sims 4because it removed the open world feature. This might also be a dealbreaker for fans if Maxis and Electronic Arts decide not to take the open-world approach for the upcoming installment.
The Sims 5doesn’t have a definite release date yet, and it’s clear that it’s still in development.
