Twitch streamer QTCinderlla’s first annualStreamer Awardshas now completed, bringing together many of the most popular and successful streamers and content creators in the industry. Hosted by QTCinderella and Maya Higa, The Streamer Awards featured 27 different categories, peaked at over 380,000 viewers onTwitch, and lasted around two hours and forty minutes. With the show now concluded, fans are free to watch the entire The Streamer Awards 2021 or to peruse the list of winners as they please.

The Streamer Awards came to fruition in three different phases. The first phase, which ran in early February, had fans submit their picks for each of the 27 categories of the award show. Based on an aggregation of those picks, three of each category’s four nominees were chosen. The final nominee was picked by a panel of Twitch,YouTube, and Facebook industry commentators, writers, journalists, and organization owners. In phase two, fans voted their favorites from the nominees. Each category’s winner was decided by a weighted combination of 70% popular vote and 30% panel vote. Phase three was Saturday’s show itself, where each category’s winners were revealed.

The biggest award of the show, Streamer of the Year, saw Ludwig, Mizkif, Sykkuno, andxQcnominated. In what was a surprise result to much of the streaming community, Ludwig and not xQc won the award. In his speech, Ludwig says that he had “one good month” and that he hopes looking at 2022 he’s able to turn that into one good year. Ludwig also cryptically said he’s glad he got one this year, because he won’t be able to again.

Other major categories included the Gamer of the Year Award, which is intended for the streamer with the most “extraordinary gaming abilities,” and went to formerCounter-StrikeproShroud, the Legacy Award, intended for a streamer that’s helped “shape the streaming industry,” which went to Pokimane, and the Rising Star Award, which went to variety streamer and podcaster Stanz.

While there were a variety of criticisms surrounding theStreamer Awards, particularly surrounding the method of choosing nominees and award winners, the show went relatively smoothly and without incident. It will be interesting to see how the Streamer Awards evolve and change going forward.

For its first year, it’s hard to consider The Streamer awards as anything but a success. It may not have blown Twitch up with an astonishing number of views, but it was still impressive. For a show largely put together within the streaming community, specifically byQTCinderella, it deserves a lot of credit. Expect the return of theStreamer Awardsin 2023.
