Summary

While exploring the open world ofRed Dead Redemption 2can leave players dirty enough, one player’s horse took this to a disgusting extreme as they pass the time in one of the game’s many towns.Arthur Morgan’s cleanliness is something Rockstar makes a keen point of keeping up with because, as in real-life, it can impact relationships with other characters and Arthur’s own physical performance. However, one horse takes this to a new level and gives their owner a front-row seat to the disgusting act, while the player can only stand there and watch.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s horse mechanics were one of the many features Rockstar highlighted leading up to the game’s release in October 2018. The studio wanted players to actual care about the horse and form a bond with it, rather than just see it as a faster means of traversing the game’s take on the Wild West. To this end, players were encouraged to care for their horses, protect them from danger, and create bonds that would produce beneficial results such as the horse gaining additional stamina or being capable of carrying more goods.

One player’s horse, though, appeared to have gotten so personal with it owner that it saw fit to relieve itself in front of the player’s face, resulting in what may be one of the most disgusting clips ever posted from the game. Reddit user ashleighschamp is the player in question who had the unfortunate distinction of seeing their horse walk in front of their character before taking a number two right at the player’s eye level. The interaction takes place in what appears to be thesettlement of Valentine, with the saloon thankfully right across the street for Ashleigh to clean up at while in town.

The clip drew varying reactions from other users, with some being just as disgusted by the horse’s actions to other users finding the whole interaction hilarious. A common joke among the latter group was the bond between the player and their horse by saying either the horse is too comfortable around its owner or there’s no bond at all. It also had some users wondering which ofRed Dead Redemption 2’s horse breedsAshleigh’s horse was, though did not clarify why they wanted to know.

As disgusting as the clip may be to others, it is a change of pace from the many clips showing the trouble players will often find themselves in with their steeds. Many of these clips involve some sort of physical harm befalling the horse, whether it is a careless owner galloping headfirst into a gunfight orMorgan failing to tame wild horsesin disastrous fashion. The silver-lining in this case is the player can wash up from the horse’s mess, though it may take longer to wash that image of the horse relieving itself from memory.

Red Dead Redemption 2is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
