For this reason, a recent viral video showing what happens when the PS5 meets a shredder is sending shockwaves of pain and disbelief through viewers.
ThePS5supply is infamously unable to keep up with the incredibly high demand, with stores going out of stock the moment they replenish. When coupled with an unfortunate epidemic of scalpers buying up PS5s with bots to sell them at a higher value online, it’s been very difficult for anyone to get ahold of a console.

Gamers already feel pain when seeingvideos of consoles or games being destroyed by angry parentsor misguided children, but those are typically with last gen things. This video is so much more disappointing considering there are still hundreds if not thousands of people still trying to buy a PS5 for themselves.
With all of that in mind, it comes as no surprise that this video appears on r/MakeMeSuffer, as it’s pretty painful to watch. There are some notable takeaways, though, that should make PS5 fans proud. For one, it holds up magnificently against the full force of this shredder, frequently causing it to jam. It’s only once the perpetrator takes it apart more and feeds it in as smaller pieces that it’s able to go down. This is mostly due to thePS5’s outrageous size, but also says something about the durability of the console as a whole.
To be fair, many in the comments claim that the shredder itself must be very cheap because of all the problems it is having, joking that he must have skimped on the shredder in order to afford the PS5. It also acts as an interesting chance to see more of the interior of the PS5, though players wanting to see this would do better towatch Sony take apart a PS5, as it will provide a much more educational and much less infuriating viewing experience.
To answer the original poster’s question of “why?”, it’s clearly meant as a troll or a way to get views. The person that did this fully understands the struggle that many are having with buying a PS5 and did this purely for the shock value of it. Though many find this kind of behavior sickening, it’s nothing new, aspeople have destroyed consoles on camera for years.
