DLC for Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 is Up in the Air
The Flame side quest inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2heavily teased a future story involving Carnage as a major threat players will have to face, and many fans assumedSpider-Man 2would receive an expansion similar to The City That Never Sleeps DLC the first game got, with Carnage being the main villain of its plot. However, the Insomniac leak instead includes details about astandalone Venom gamein the works that would feature Carnage as its villain. These leaks also suggest Insomniac has plans for a few free DLC packs forSpider-Man 2, but it’s unclear if these are still in the works.
More Information Will Likely Be Revealed About Marvel’s Wolverine and Marvel’s Blade
Marvel’s Wolverine
Arguably the title that was the biggest victim of theInsomniac leaks wasMarvel’s Wolverine, who saw in-development gameplay footage, a plot synopsis, and even a playable build released as a part of the cyberattack. However, with Insomniac resolved to continue its development as planned, it’s possible fans could expect to see some official gameplay revealed in 2024, even if it isn’t slated for release until 2026 as the leak suggests. The leaked gameplay footage was supposedly from a build in development a few years ago, so it’s likely gameplay will look quite different if officially shown this year.
Marvel’s Blade
One of the biggest surprises to come out of the Game Awards 2023 was the reveal ofMarvel’s Bladefrom Arkane Studios. While not much was shown about this title beyond a brief teaser that introduced players to the style and setting of the game, more about the title could be revealed over the next year. Without a clear release date, or even release window, it’s hard to predict how much of the game will be ready to be shown in 2024, but the quality of the cinematic trailer shown at the Game Awards is a good sign that fans could see more details aboutMarvel’s Bladeemerge sometime this year.
Marvel Snap Will Continue to Expand its Content
Now in its second year of service,Marvel Snaphas room to grow even more than it already did in 2023. Last year saw the introduction of features like Conquest Mode, Spotlight Caches, and Albums which received somewhat mixed reactions from players. AsMarvel Snapcontinues to tune its gameplay and monetization model, players can expect the mobile title to see new and reworked features in 2024, along with monthly seasons that feature new cards, locations, and variants for players to experience in the coming year.
Other Marvel Titles in Development Could Get Official Reveals
EA Motive’s Iron Man
EA’s Motive Studio was in the spotlight in 2023 thanks to thesuccess of itsDead Spaceremakewhich was released early last year. With the studio now working on anIron Mangame, there is a lot of speculation as to how mechanics fromDead Spacecould transfer to a game where players take on the role of Tony Stark as Iron Man. No gameplay has been shown for the game so far, and its release window is unclear, but 2024 would be the perfect year to finally unveil footage of this project for fans to get hyped for.
EA Cliffhanger’s Black Panther
In addition to Motive’sIron Mantitle, EA has another Marvel game in the works from the newly-formed Cliffhanger Games. This title has been described as an original story told via a third-person, single-player game based onMarvel’s Wakandan heroBlack Panther. Similarly to EA Motive’sIron Man, not much has been revealed about this game other than these few details, so 2024 could potentially be a big year for EA if both of these studios' games are formally unveiled with reveal trailers and gameplay footage.
Skydance’s Marvel Game
Among the in-development Marvel games is an untitled game from Skydance Media, led by industry veteran Amy Hennig. This title is reported to be an original story set during World War 2 and features bothCaptain America and a WW2-era Black Panther, focusing on a tale of Wakandan espionage. The premise of this title sounds intriguing enough to capture Marvel fans' attention, but a gameplay reveal in 2024 would go a long way toward sealing the deal for many players who may have a passing interest in this game.
