It’s always a tricky situation when people get stepbrothers or stepsisters. Not only must they deal with someone marrying their parents, but they also have to share their house with another child who’s every bit uncomfortable. Many of these relationships turn out well, but they can potentially go poorly.

Even by that expectation, some movies go above and beyond. They conjure stepsisters who make their siblings' lives a nightmare. This behavior occasionally stems from their own unhappiness, but it’s more often because they’re naturally villainous. Who knows why screenwriters craft such awful characters from this archetype?

5Cinderella’s Stepsisters (Cinderella)

The evil stepfamily is a staple of theCinderellatale. Most of the villainy goes back to the stepmother, as she’s the ringleader and spearheads the abuse. However, the stepsisters are nearly as despicable.

Like their mother, they treat Cinderella as a slave. They saddle her with endless household chores and verbally castigate her all the while.

Then, when she simply wants to go to the local ball, they mercilessly shred her dress out of spite. Truly, their mom raised them to trample on the lower class, and they’ll likely grow up to be just as bad as her.No matter the time period or setting, Cinderella’s stepsisters remain consistently awful.

4Cher Horowitz (Clueless)

The title doesn’t lie. The clueless Cher Horowitz gets by purely on popularity. She solves any problem with emotional distraction and the odd sexual tease. On top of that, she gauges people’s value by surface-level facets like fashion sense. However, these aspects don’t make her much different than stereotypical teenage girls.

Her own obnoxious nature is more apparent when dealing with Josh: the son of her former stepmother.Regardless of the incestuous implications, Cher toys with him like a cat tormenting a mouse. He later gets the chance for a healthy relationship with a girl named Tai, but Cher sabotages this because of her own insecurity. This is after she gives Tai a makeover to make her more popular. In essence, she raises her up only to cruelly swat her back down. Cher doesn’t know what she wants, and that indecision always comes back to bite other people.Anyone with common sense should stay far away from this trainwreck.

3Kathryn Merteuil (Cruel Intentions)

This teen terror isa sensual psychopath. Kathryn Merteuil regularly seduces men for pure pleasure. What’s more is that she often ropes others into her depraved exploits, pushing them into unhealthy sexual acts and habits which they later regret.

This is because she sees human beings as little more than playthings. Her peers exist solely to satisfy her base desires and provide momentary amusement. Her sexuality is her greatest weapon in wrangling her victims, and it’s one she wields without compromise. What’s really sickening is that it leaves no attachment or impact on her. That emotional disconnect makes the whole ordeal uncomfortable beyond the obvious incest.

2Mabel (Shrek The Third)

TheShrekflicks already spoof Cinderella’s siblings with Doris. Voiced by Larry King of all people, the “Ugly Stepsister” works as a bartender in a seedy neighborhood. The third film introduces the other ugly stepsister, Mabel, voiced by Regis Philbin. After her sibling gets a cushy gig in the royal palace, she feels left out. She then teams up with Prince Charming and the other villains in a hostile takeover.

This makes Mabel complicit in endangering hundreds of people. She only does this out of spite, so it’s hard to feel any sympathy for her plight. She looks even worse since Doris harbors no hard feelings. In fact, the former sister quickly forgives and forgets. In short, Mabel could have joined her sibling in the palace if she’d only asked. On top of being selfish and malicious, she’s just flat-out unintelligent.

1Megan Parker (Drake & Josh Go Hollywood)

The little sister of thisNickelodeonsitcom possesses evil well beyond her small size. Megan repeatedly pranks her brother and stepbrother, and her methods are so precise and advanced that they cause bodily harm. As a result, the titular teens are always on edge, too afraid to ever fully relax. That’s just sadistic.

Believe it or not, Megan takes that sadism to the next level in the movie,Drake & Josh Go Hollywood. She may not prank them here, but her actions are arguably worse. They accidentally put her on a plane to Los Angelesinstead of her friend’s house in Denver. Rather than immediately call to assure them of her safety, she phones them later to gloat over their negligence. They’re so worried that they get on the next flight to find her. Needless to say, this takes a huge toll, both emotionally and financially.

Kathryn in Cruel Intentions

Of course, that’s only the beginning of Megan’s money-wasting antics. Using an emergency credit card from her parents, she hires a limo driver and books the most expensive suite at a five-star hotel. Eventually, she stumbles on the same counterfeit operation as her brothers. Her response, though, is to collect a bunch of fake bills and use them to pay the limo driver. This girl leaves a trail of misery and crime, hiding her wrongdoing under the guise of childlike innocence.
