Wait to Get Through
The Gateway Connection Timed Out error message pops up when thegame cannot connect to the online server within a given time frame,preventing players from joining the game. Since this is a server issue, the main way to fix it is to wait until the server allows players through.
Waiting for a couple of minutes on the error message screenand clicking on the background has been known to let players through.
To do this, the only thing players need to do is wait until the server opens up. An easy way to do this is to keep the game open in the background while on the error message screen. When the server has capacity, players will automatically get through.
Switch to WiFi/Ethernet/4G/5G
Changing the way players connect to the internet can sometimes resolve this issue.Switch to Ethernet(PC or Console) or 4G/5G (mobile) if you’re connected using WiFi.
If you’re connected via Ethernet, try using WiFi or mobile data. If you’re already using data, check if WiFi is better. Switch things around andrelaunch the gameto see if it fixes the issue.
