Summary
A craftyZelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayer has fused together a collection of Zonai devices and a surprising item found in the game to create a unique single-wheeled vehicle. This makeshiftTears of the Kingdomvehicle can be used on land as well as in some watery areas.
When the developers ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomfirst decided to add Zonai devices to the game, it’s reasonable to believe that they expected some very unique vehicles to be made and posted online. However, it’s doubtful that even the developers expected players to make such impressive vehicles out of random items, like the oneTears of the Kingdomplayer who made a low riderout of wooden planks and sleds. Another item that most likely no one saw coming as a part for a vehicle is the giant yellow floating balls found in the Jonsau Shrine, which has been used by one creative fan to make an impromptu wheel.
Reddit user wazike posted a video on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit of their single-wheeled vehicle using the big floating ball. In the clip, Link can be seen piloting a three-pronged creation made out of small wheels, stabilizers, and otheruseful Zonai devices inTears of the Kingdom, with the big yellow ball sitting undetached in the middle. The clip shows off the speed of this unique vehicle as it moves around both grassy and wetter areas of the world, and it shows Link auto-building it as well.
The magic behind this creation is the wheel threads that allow theJonsau Shrine ball to detach automatically from the other Zonai devices, which keeps the build as one single piece and not multiple pieces that need to be fused together after auto-building. According to wazike, using a floating ball instead of the heavy metal ones makes it possible to use this vehicle on deeper water as well.
This build was inspired by another Reddit user named Pseudo-Sadhu, who created something similar but with a differentZonai device fromTears of the Kingdomto hold the ball in place: cooking pots. Wazike replaced the pots with small wheels, which brought the entire creation together. Wazike posted this design to the Hyrule Engineering subreddit, expecting others to improve it, referring to this single-wheeled vehicle as a “proof of concept.” One commenter has already suggested adding cannons to it to create a Brute Chopper-like vehicle fromHalo.
