This leads her and Link to a dark catacomb beneath Hyrule Castle wherein the pair find a mummified body. It wakes up, knocks Zelda somewhere in time, and corrupts Link’s body so that he needs a replacement arm. That is the basic setup for Link’s new adventure inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Let’s look at some questions left on the table by the end with full spoilers in effect.
Warning! Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom story spoilers from this moment onward.

7Zelda Turning Into The Light Dragon
It is not shown in the game, but Zelda must have ingested her gem to transform into the Light Dragon. In the finalboss battle with Ganondorf, he eats his gem and transforms into a dragon as well. It is only reasonable to assume then that this is how Zelda’s transformation went.
It’s one of the wildest forms Zelda has ever taken in the series and she has been a ghost knight before. After the curse is lifted and Zelda transforms back, why does she still have the gem intact? Shouldn’t it have been destroyed in the transformation?

6Will Zelda Get A Prequel?
The final line of the game eludes to Zelda having a lot of things to tell Link. She went back hundreds of years when Hyrule was formed. How the area looked is never shown but presumably, it was a thriving kingdom.

This could be the game hinting that there are more sequels on the way, or in this case, a prequel.Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamitywas a prequel toThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Could Zelda get her own action spinoff like that game that leads up to The Imprisoning War?
5Will The Zonai Get Explored?
Even though Zelda goes back hundreds of years, it is not during an age wherein theZonai thrived inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. For all players know, Rauru and Mineru are the last two Zonai left right before The Imprisoning War. That may be the reason they went down to the surface to make a deal with the first Hylians.
What were the Zonai doing before the age of Hyrule? What adventures did they get into and what exactly led to the extinction of their species? It might be a question Nintendo wants to keep covered like the mysterious ancient Chozo race in the Metroid franchise.

4Will There Be A Third Link Adventure?
Nintendo could team up again to make another Hyrule Warriors spinoff with Koei Tecmo. They could certainly partner up with another developer for a prequel starring Zelda as well. They could also just ignore how this game ends and make a third sequel to move the story forward instead.
It’s no mystery that this game andThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildhave done tremendously well for Nintendo. They may want to continue making games in this style as direct sequels. Will that happen or will Link’s next mainline adventure take place in a whole other universe?

3Ganondorf’s Imprisonment
There are quite a few lingering questions about Ganondorf’s imprisonment below the surface. When Link and Zelda find him, he is being held in place by an arm which is later to be revealed as Rauru’s. What happened to Rauru’s body?
If Ganondorf became a mummified husk, then shouldn’t Rauru have been there as well as a mummified body? Also, how did the events surrounding Calamity Ganon happen in the first game if Ganondorf was sealed away all this time? They are the same person unless somehow they are not, which again, is not explained.

2Why Does Link’s Shirt Keep Popping Off?
It’s kind of weird how this game keeps removing Link’s clothing. In the opening battle, Ganondorf steals Link’s power thus dropping hishearts and stamina down inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. When Link wakes up he has a completely new arm, which again, turns out to be Rauru’s.

To tie things back toMetroidagain, this power-zapping maneuverhappens to Samusall of the time. Why were Link’s clothes removed in this process? It happens again when Link goes into that other dimension after releasing Zelda as the Light Dragon. Who on Nintendo’s development team wants to see Link strip this much, or is there an actual reason within the game’s lore? Zelda isn’t getting undressed in this game.
1Why Was Ganondorf Disguising Himself As Zelda?
The main quest of the game has Link running around Hyrule to try and find Zelda. Each kingdom he visits, like thebird-like Rito tribe, experienced sightings of Zelda. All of these turn out to be hallucinations put forth by Ganondorf.
It is never explained why he is misleading these various tribes or Link. It’s not like unlocking the various temples helped Ganondorf get resurrected. Was he just trying to build himself time while he powered back up, or was there something more to Ganondorf’s tricks?
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomwas released on June 11, 2025, and is available on Switch.
